It’s probably already been talked to death but let’s be honest here, if Alabama wanted this game to be annual it would continue to be annual.

They obviously wanted Auburn and Tennessee then elected to have Ms State as their 3rd opponent instead of LSU. Nobody in Baton Rouge leadership would have said no to LSU dropping Arkansas or A&M as an annual game in favor of keeping Bama.

It was NOT us. It was them.

The only reason I’m ok with gaps in series like Bama is if we get Tennessee Georgia Florida and Auburn more frequently.

I would not be happy if our conference slate had Mizzou A&M OU and Texas all in the same season.

1. They don’t get to “elect” their opponents. And what morons would want 3 Big 6 teams in their permanent pod? That’s absurd

2. State is Bama’s most frequently played team and they are the closest schools in the SEC. The world existed pre-2007 bud

If it leads to schedule imbalances then yeah, they would have

In your mind are the elite programs supposed to self-sabotage and voluntarily play each other more frequently? Would you be as excited when 9-3 LSU on a tough slate misses the playoffs and a rare 10-2 Miss State on an easy schedule that drew Arkansas instead of Alabama makes it? The whole purpose of the pods is to be balanced so teams don’t get fricked on uneven schedules

fricking retarded

I don't think LSU has ever been above Auburn Iron Bowl and Third Sat in October Tenn

those will always be bigger games for Bama fans and those schools

They tried to make LSU Ark something but it never took off

Ole Miss has been sporadic because they haven't had sustained success and they have the egg bowl

Aggies is a big game but will never replace the Texas Texas A&M game

Trying to convince them not to play the victim will never work.

It's pretty well known that LSU/Alabama was seriously considered as an annual game until Saban made it clear that he would be very displeased by that. Even Ole Finbaum has mentioned that. His contention was that LSU, Tennessee, and LSU would be unfair to Bama. He had a point there, too. But they didn't pick State; they simply wanted it not to be LSU.

Exactly. The fact is, most LSU fans were hoping we would not play Bama until Saban retired.

They were also our most frequently played game. We've played them more than Alabama has.

Alabama is our 4th most frequently played opponent, 3rd most in the SEC (Tulane is the third overall). We are their third overall. We have actually played Alabama more often than they have played Auburn.

Still playing; just not every year. Alabama has strong rivalry with Tennessee and Auburn. I don’t think LSU or Alabama wanted to be permanent opponents. Oh, they both say they would want this permanent but they’re both full of shite.

Ole Miss and Miss St have been our annual opponents since the beginning of time. Alabama only became so in 1964

Except for TAMU & ARK we have no prolonged history with UTw. Missouri, and OU. Seems like the SEC is trying to manufacture some sort of new " rivalry "

The annual opponents are revisited in 3 years. I have a strong feeling that we will end up with Arky, Ole Piss, and Bammer when that happens. Never know though, it'll be tough for them to bump A&M I imagine, but feels like we should get bama

Go back to east west . Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Arkansas, Miss. State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Alabama. Ninth game would be rotated every year. Sucks that you’d only play each east or west team every nine years. However, it’s kind of the same as when LSU had to play Florida every year, Bama/ Tennessee and the others. The SEC championships gives a west team another chance to play a cross conference opponent. Just a thought
