He waits for plays to fully happen before saying anything. Hard to listen to him calling a football game especially. You’ll hear the crowd roaring and you know he’s always a few seconds behind. Kinda does the same in baseball.

He's FAR superior to Jim in PBP. You actually know what is going on.

He also has a great radio voice.

He is not exciting and big play calls lack authority, but I can sacrifice that for actually knowing what is going on.

You could ALWAYS go back to the silent picture days.

only problem I have with Blair is he’ll go about two innings without telling the score. Blair is fine just many in this thread have nostalgia growing up with Jim and Hanny.

Personally I think Blair does a great job calling ball games.

He doesn't get to the point in clear ways like good baseball announcemers do. He'll describe things that lead you to believe one thing is happening, and then end it with some different result. For instance, if a ball is clearly hit foul, then "foul" should be the first or second word of the call. Not a description of how high, far, what the pitch was, and 10 other words before saying it was well out of play. Sometimes he does get to the point, but not consistently. And say the count and batter (or pitcher) on every pitch. The 2-2 pitch to Milam... He'll go half an inning without doing this, and in baseball you need this kind of stuff consistently to follow along.

I don't hate him, I've just listened to other announcemers who do it much better.

Loved JH but IMHO baseball was his weakest call. He seemed to be impatient and wanting the game to end and often commented on how long the game was going.

In complaining tone .... "here we are going on 2 hours and 45 minutes and we're only in the 7th inning"

I can’t tell if he’s just a smug son of a bitch or the most boring human being of all time. But I hate listening to Hunt.

Interesting. I recall at least half of the fan base complaining about him too.

So true. Not fond of Blair, but Jim was another level of awful.

I think he does a good job.

Don’t listen to him if it’s such an issue.

I'd rather the announcer be late than be right on top of it and get something wrong, which Hawthorne did a lot.

And I loved Hawthorne.

ETA: Anytime I heard Hawthorne say "There's nobody gonna catch him!" I knew there was a tackle about to be made.

I had no idea what was going on for most of the Frisco series, they would miss pitches all the time. Chris Blair is miles better at play by play then anyone else in the booth.

I think you are misremembering. This was a pretty good call. Especially since Doug Thompson literally ran out of the room and left him by himself.
