There is no one "like Tanks" in the portal.

Did Nippolt struggle fielding or am I unfairly only remembering the times he did.

Nippolt was very impressive in the field this season.

He was a bad defender at VCU and has been above average defensively at LSU.

But TBH, some fans probably question why are we taking a transfer who hit no better than that shown and inferring there must be some kind of misunderstanding?

We were expecting someone like Tanks.

WTF are you talking about

What is his fielding stats?

Quick comparison to some other prominent SEC SSs from this year in fielding:

Grant Smith(KEN) - .988 fielding pct (3 errors)
Braswell(SC) - .973 fielding pct (4 errors)
Josh Rivera(FL) - .964 fielding pct (8 errors)
Maui Ahuna - .959 fielding pct (7 errors)
Jordan Thompson - .937 fielding pct (12 errors)

Braswell's Pop Up % for this year was 0. And it was only 2.7% the year before.

He puts the ball on the ground a lot (over 50% of the time) and has a good line drive %.

I'm interested to see if they ask him to start lifting the ball more.

We need multiple middle infielders from the portal. I don't know anything about this guy but just getting our body count up there is important. Guidry clearly wants a shot to play SS. He said so after the SR. And Jay knows it and said he will get a shot there

Hate to be that guy, but it sure seems like we could have found someone with much better batting numbers in the portal. He did hit better as a freshman than as a sophomore.

Which middle infielders are you talking about?

Yeah he had that one play that I could think of. He was good in the field. It was the plate that was the problem.

Interesting pick up...surprised to see it happen so fast with LSU still playing.

Kid has some talent and room for improvement.

.255 BA isn’t going to cut it at LSU.

He’d better be a good fielder because he doesn’t hit for average and has virtually no power. He would definitely be a weak link in the batting order in the nine hole. He’s in the portal because he lost his starting job.

He is a low floor high ceiling type of player that at worst will be a good defender that gets on base at a decent clip. That's not the worst thing in the world when you are returning virtually no middle infield experience.

So far CJJ has shown the ability to get guys hitting the ball better.

Will be interesting to see how that translates to this guy.

I think he has a good shot at 2B,if Jay can get him up to high 200/low 300 BA. Everyone is focused on replacing Thompson at SS, just have to remember we need a Second baseman . Guidry will be given every opportunity at SS if the BA comes around.

He made the error this past weekend playing 6 steps in right field. But other than that I’ve seen him show good range and make all the plays. He’s done very well in some late inning defensive sub situations coming off the bench and fielding short hop bouncers.

think he will more than likely come in and play when Guidry goes to pitch.

Or second if Nippolt doesn’t hit

I really think an offseason with CJJ and Chief can help him, at 6-2 195 there’s no reason he shouldn’t hit double digit HRs
