Damn, LSU's next 3 games are NET anchors. LSU will go 3-0 but probably slide in NET.

I don't know how many SEC games the Tigers will win, but I do know how many they will win with 17 turnovers, outrebounded by 10, and 27% 3-point shooting.

Zero.

SMU did not do anything great other than offensive rebounds and shot 61% free throws (9 misses). The game was there for the taking, and the Tigers did not get it done.

Comment as much as you want.

Frustrating part is we seem to play really well for long stretches in most of our games but then we relax mentally or something. Then we go long 8-12 minute stretches where we just kind of collapse on both ends. We turn it over left and right in bunches and take quick or bad shots when not turning it over on offense. Defensively we give up easy buckets and too many open looks during same stretch and that allows good teams to turn the game around and take over and allows weaker teams to hang around in what should be a blowout

Yeah the fact that it was there for the taking + first time really feeling Reed’s absence against a solid team make this a pretty tough L to eat.

At some point we gotta catch a break lol. Baseball season should be good.

“I admittedly havent watched many games but Bailey kills me. Is he normally better than this?”

Lol…watch more ball. He’s the best defender on the team he’s 3rd in FG% in SEC at 57%. He had 13pts 4 reb 2 ast 1 st and 1 TO. He is the glue to the team.

Normally I would ask if you watch many games. But I am not sure you even watched this one.

Another woulda could've should've game in the McMahon era. We have seen so many of them. I know you want your team to take good shots, but we try so hard to get a good shot and then have a turnover. Maybe we should just take bad shots.
We were so much better than this team. Should have been an easy win. Oh well, always next year - the LSU motto.

LSU was stuck on stupid for four minutes early in the second half, transmuting a 39-37 lead into a 39-51 deficit.

No good reason LSU should have lost this game, other than their mindset which needs adjustment

Might sound silly but if we had to lose this game I prefer we lost it the way we did. What I mean is we lost the game, SMU didn’t beat us. We’ve kind of hung in the same position vs the real competition this season but mostly managed to make plays and overcome our mistakes. Going into SEC play it’s time to fix it and push to reach our potential. The SEC is the best conf by far this year but it’s more a situation where we have a lot of good to very good teams and the rest of the country sucks so we can make the tourney this year because the SEC isn’t stacked with great teams but will get 10-12 into the dance.

Good post, but...

The SEC has 5 of the top 10 including #1 and #2 in the country.

But they’re not great teams, they’re very beatable teams. Designated rankings don’t always mean the exact same thing, for example #1 Gonzaga from 2020 isn’t equal to #1 Duke from 1992.

I was there. I agree with 60/40ish, more LSU fans than SMU.

It was 68 to 64 with about 40 seconds left and Collins shooting 1 and 1. Collins missed the front end and it was over except for fouling. SMU scored their last 6 points at the free thrown line. Reed is the only front court player that can get his own shot. He is also the only quality front court player over 250lbs to go against the big boys. He would’ve made a difference, and as close as it was, I think it would’ve been a win with Reed.

OK. But there is a HUGE difference between "Duke 1992 Great" and "very beatable", the latter of which no one else would normally describe the best teams in the country as.

Now i think LSU can compete with them. They haven't gotten blown out by anyone yet.

You seem to be married to the idea that rankings automatically guarantee a level of invincibility instead of just judging the teams based on what they can and cannot do.
