We were watching on TV and when the crowd started clapping and standing as he walked up my wife commented that the crowd was "putting too much pressure on" Bregman. I said no, just showing some love. Then he hit it up the middle. It was a powerful moment.

Crowd reaction reminded me of the UGA 2003 football game after Georgia scored on the long TD.

Go to 7:38 for UGA's play. After the initial reaction (probably during commercial) LSU LSU chant erupted. I'd never seen anything like that after an opponent's score.

He means the unqualified support that LSU fans can show when we choose to. The fans got louder in that game after Ga. scored because they wanted to send a message of support to the team: "we are with you". Same with Bregs: yeah, you've been in a terrible slump, but we love what you've done at LSU and we know you can knock in a run.

Was there. That day was unlike anything I'd seen on campus before.
Was the first time I ever paid over face-value for a ticket($40 for an east upper single). First time there were reports of equal number of fans outside TS as in the seats and so on. That game was a sign of the times ahead. Was a rebirth/arrival or whatever you choose to call what LSU Football has become.

We were no longer a fluke program of the last 15 years with a lucky win over Spurrier's Gators.
Saban was the real deal and everyone in the country was about to know it.

Reminded me of Cresse struggling in the postseason in 2000, but coming up with the big hit to knock Theriot in for the national title. I can't recall any of his at bats during the slump and now all I remember is the Cresse hit.

They were cheering because they knew it was the last time he would get an at bat at Alex Box

I don't get caught up on the 'Old' Box new Box thing, but in that moment, it felt like the Old Box.

I wouldn't call it encouragement.

It had nothing to do with his slump. It was appreciation for him being an LSU Tiger and his career as a whole. He could be 20 for 20 or 0 for 20 his last 20 at bats.. He was getting a Universal standing ovation regardless

The combination of the situation itself. It was a huge AB. It was Bregman. It was his slump. It was his last AB in tBox.

All of this

In the stadium, my perception was that the crowd got behind him to support him

This was my feeling as well. That is why I stood up. There are a few players that that game represented their last at bat. Just felt like we could help give him a push to get a hit. I guess it worked.
