McMahon has not delivered.

That said, there's a better chance Portland brings back Chauncey Billups than LSU bringing back Wade. It's never going to happen.

There is absolutely a pathway for Wade to return. We have a lifeline now to get tPear back.

This week didn’t surprise me at all with what went down but in true Louisiana fashion it had to be broadcast for all to see and make us a laughingstock for at least a week until the media finds their next big story. That is the one plus of this day and age, no one has a long attention span anymore. Most of this will be forgotten about by December.

Did anyone see the Ross Dellenger report that Landry wanted LSU to hire Wade back last year and Woody said no .

No doubt he is a nice guy, but he is not a fit here and he has done nothing to make this program work. LSU basketball needs coaches like Brown and Wade that get top talent and sell the program. McMahon is no better than Trent Johnson (well at least Trent could somewhat coach). We don't need another guy with zero charisma and that cannot recruit.

You know, you could just hope LSU has a successful season, even if you don't think it's possible.

I can assure you Heath is on the short list. He’s done a good job raising money for other projects, such as the new press box/suites at McNeese.

Wade’s contract is pretty close to what he made at LSU nearly a decade ago. The biggest impediment may be the $5MM buyout if he leaves NC St after year one. He’s worth paying it.

Fat Scott was too much of a pussy to fire McMahon with Will Wake lurking in Lake Charles so we’re stuck with him for one more season while the program continues to fall into the abyss.

And that is where the rift with Landry started. Jeff wanted LSU to bring him back and Scott and Tate doubled down on stupid. Didn’t work out well for them.

ETA. WW has his hand in bringing down two school presidents (Alexander and Tate) and now two AD’s (Woodward and Alleva). lol!!

Define successful.

To me for McMahon to keep his job: Top half of the SEC and/or make the tournament.

Hopefully we can leapfrog the 7 teams in front of us last year to become a top 8 SEC team!

McMahon now not only needs to make the tournament but needs to pretty much do it style. If we scrape our way in as a 10 seed bubble team and get whacked in the first round he’ll probably get Rodney Terry’d.

Agreed.

I wouldn't say it is a great chance. But it's not a "no chance" by any means. Obviously it would be harder to pull him away from NC State than it would have been from McNeese, but while Tennessee is home, he has lived in Louisiana for 7 of the last 8 years. Much to the chagrin of a handful of virtue signalers, he would come back to LSU a "hero" under a familiar president. Plus, there wouldn't be much work to do with the network of donors. He already has that built. Season ticket sales would increase by at least 30% (if not more) the week he was named HC.

This is a unique situation. Wade was the ONLY LSU coach I can remember who was fired contrary to the wishes of the fanbase...and boosters. He may ultimately stay at NC State, particularly if he has great success this season. But as long as Landry is governor and Rousse is the President, LSU WILL make a push to get him here at the end of this season (unless McMahon goes on the heater of all heaters)

I’m a huge Will Wade fan, even dropped my season tickets when he was fired (bad move on my part, I should have continued to support the program), but kudos to Woody for not listening to the Governor. He should have no bearing on who the AD believes is the right person for the job.

I don’t see how LSU doesn’t try for WW after this season. With NIL, you need the money, and from what I gather, boosters trust WW and will open their checkbook for him.

I don't care if it's Kim Jong Un who wanted to bring him back as long as I have a competitive team to watch in the Winter months!

Don't get me wrong. I LOVED the 5 years he was at LSU. But Wade wasn't innocent in the whole mess. He lied to Tate/Woodward during the investigations multiple times. It was self-preservation, but still untruthful. I said it many times. While I didn't like that LSU fired Wade, I understood why they chose to do it.

However, IMO, that should have been water under the bridge by last year. What Wade was accused of (paying players) is now not only "legal", but absolutely necessary. Thus, the risk of recurrence was zero. Both sides would have had to swallow some pride to make it happen. But it didn't.

And you are right, Wade's popularity has directly/indirectly played a role in taking down 2 presidents and 2 ADs. I guess in some ways, that speaks to the guy's charisma. Powerful people like him

Do you realize what a substantial improvement that would be for McMahon or any of his team since Wade's departure? This year's team is rated 15th in a 16 team league, with at most three or four conf wins.

If McMahon makes the tourney at all this year he deserves a contract extension.
