Likely outcome to Harris / Wright situation

They come back to play college football for Ole Miss. SEC blocks them transferring in conference. Someone tell me if I’m wrong but I don’t see the other SEC schools + Sankey letting this fly. Hope to be wrong but feel like this is gonna blow up on us.

The same TRO that allows these athletes to overcome the NCAA’s professional-contract restriction also effectively opens a transfer-portal window for them. In other words, restoring their eligibility does not necessarily require them to return to Ole Miss; the TRO potentially addresses both barriers: their professional status and their ability to transfer and compete elsewhere.

Obviously not, but their last team was.Now Pyburn a totally different story. He probably will play for LSU next year. Dont think the conference is in a mood to do any favors for us or set this precedent. But keep your purple and gold shades on and downvote away.

These players left Ole Miss to try out for the NFL. Ole Miss doesn’t own these players. Technically they are not transferring from Ole Miss. Sankey has no case here.

in theory, if the NCAA/SEC's stance is that they already exhausted their eligibility then it would be a bad look to say they can only play at the school that they were initially at. That would make them backtrack on their own exhausted eligibility stance. Furthermore, if the SEC rules that they either have to return to their previous program or transfer out of conference, and then they transfer out of conference... the SEC would then be directly responsible for improving the roster of a school in another conference. Looks to me that they're best move is to express their disagreement and frustration and then let the courts play it out, but if the conference office meddles in this there's no way they come out looking like the moral hero... which truly is the only reason they'd involve themselves to begin with.
Again, I don't like it. But the NCAA screwed this up and CLK is putting himself in the best position to win with the circumstances the NCAA created. As is Sark, as is Ryan Day, and frankly as is Golding.

Other SEC schools are going to pick up players, too. They’re going to contain their “outrage” unless they don’t sign anyone.

The SEC’s initial stance is you can’t enter the draft and come back. So that takes Ole Miss off the table as well.

Even if they didnt leave ole miss for the NFL, they didnt know they were eligible during the portal window.

They play for LSU, as announced. Deal is done. There is nothing the SEC office can do, or SHOULD do.
The ruling made these guys eligible to return to college. One has already signed with UCLA (a Big 10 school). Oh by the way, one has also signed with South Carolina (a fellow SEC team).
That's not who those guys played for last season. UCLA is not going to give a shite about an SEC statement, either.
If you try to impose restrictions on where these guys can go... Harris stated he was open to returning to Ole Miss. He ended up here. So they didn't match the offer.... which seems to be the primary force behind the NIL ruling. You want to tell a player he can't make the money we offered? That would get sued to oblivion in today's environment and everyone knows it.
Texas took a guy who was in NFL minicamps a month ago, so there's your "NFL player" concern. SEC didn't give a frick then.
Sankey has to be careful in this. The Big 10 has won the past 3 national titles in football, and they are getting more money in their TV deal than the SEC gets.
He does not want the presidents of UGA, Bama, Texas, OU, Auburn, Florida (all former title winners, so they care about winning) to see him hamstring an LSU team to the benefit of, say, Indiana or Ohio State, and we go another year with a Big 10 champ. Because if it's us this year, it could very well be them next. That's a good way to get pushed out.
