Kind of like pretending South Carolina didn’t happen? At least we won our worst performances of the year.

what a great performance against an A&M team that didn't want to be there and had nothing to play for.

Are you gonna sit here with this logic and act like Ga Tech had something to play for? Idiot.

South Carolina happened too. Which one is worse?

Been going to LSU games for a long time. I can’t remember a more dominant defensive performance against an SEC bowl eligible team.

Defense has been going to sleep after we get a big lead. That’s all it was.

If they can keep up that level of play for the rest of the season LSU will be tough to beat.

They were hard to beat without it. If they keep it up they will be damn near impossible to beat.

The question is what changed that allowed this level of effectiveness?

Did we blitz more?
Play man with single safety high coverage and blitz one safety ?
Did we finally get our zone issues fixed?
Did we stop subbing in younger players so much?
Did we just stop resting on our laurels and start playing 60 minutes?
Did we get healthy?
Did our scheme change and we started doing something different?
Someone with more defensive knowledge like a coach or former college player please give some real feedback on what changed. Thanks

Lol at UGA fans. Y'all lost to usc dumbass. You'd have a leg to stand on if we had actually lost to a shite team.

This is why I hate UGA. You will learn once again you aren't the better team. Y'all weren't in 03 and you Weren't in 07.

All the injuries this year have forced us to have more experienced depth meaning we can rotate and stay fresher without being in a dead panic about who is on the field

Hopefully that translates to the playoffs

Relentless pass rush, I don't know why it was missing in previous games.

2 things I noticed:

1: Brooks and Chaisson on the field at the same time

2: Delpit was finally moved up close to the LOS

But they wanted to play the leghumpers a week ago? You’re an idiot. Your team barely beat them and lost to Scar. Impressive.

Did we blitz more?
yes. I see the biggest difference being when, not if... I suspect we blitzed only slightly more than we have been. However, the blitzes came in series and early in the game instead of spread out over the last 3 qtrs. Thought about it too late to check, but I suspect early on it was cage rush (QB contain) with the DL and blitz with #4/#5 man in box. That way we got best of both worlds and it mandated we had to blitz more to put into play. They had a tendency to keep either a RB or TE in every pass play. Once LB read that, they rushed shooting gaps other than where their guy was blocking. It's the same thing people did to us all last year with enhanced and max protections. So it wasn't "we're going to blitz them" decision. It was more of a read, defined by TAMU.

Play man with single safety high coverage and blitz one safety ?
yep. Alot. If I had to pick one factor, this is it. Not only because of the blitzing, but because it gave us that man to move around and confuse their looks.
quote:

Did we stop subbing in younger players so much?
not really. We subbed alot, most of the game.
quote:

Did we just stop resting on our laurels and start playing 60 minutes?
yep. It's hard to resist, but there's been alot of this. Not really resting on laurels, but on score margins with the best offense in LSU (and SEC) history.
quote:

Did our scheme change and we started doing something different?
not really. We did plenty of zone, but it was 'setup' by varying blitzes and looks. That zone has worked beutifully at times. Both Arky and TAMU threw screens into zones that hurt them. And remember, when QB is a runner, zones typically work better than man-man because defenders don't turn the backs to the ball. Running QBs are becoming so prevalent I believe that's why Aranda wants us to be able (practice & play) zone a fair amount. The execution and assignments, and give a shite when up big, have been the problem; not necessarily the scheme.

Says the team who lost to game cocks at home. That was A&M's bowl game for the year. Didn't want to be there? What a schmuck. Can't wait till next weekend when we introduce you to the best "complete " team in the country. Hell, you barely beat the tar heels! LOL.

Georgia and Clemson only beat A&M by combined 20 points. Not even in LSU's league.

If the committee wants to compare common opponents for the eye test then.....

A&M lost to Bama, Clemson, Auburn, and Georgia by a combined 47 points

A&M lost to LSU by 43

No matter what, to win it all you have to play tough games back-to-back.

Plus the media desperately wants LSU vs OSU in the Championship.

I didn't care for the two or three 8-10 yard runs the Spiller guy made.

Let's face it - we're going for perfection here.
