Do you people that say this not fricking understand that MVB is a threat to run the ball?

He’s likely our best option at having a decent rushing attack this season.

His mobility also forces the defense from rushing 3 and dropping 8 because you’ll have to have 1-2 extra guys staying in. It also could help our traditional rushing attack as well.

I think Nussmeier is a good kid. But he’s actively getting worse in front of our eyes. And him and our CPA looking dumbass offensive coordinator and our shitty OL coach are costing us games.

Actually, our HC is costing us games due to his utter devotion to people that have proven to be fricking TERRIBLE at their jobs.

The dynamic this threat alone would bring the offense would be tremendous.

Instead we have a QB too scared to even run a QB sneak on a key play.

Defenses know this. Not only that, any sign of pressure and he is throwing floaters into triple coverage.

Our QB alone will lose us three more games with that type of "play".

The reason Garrett isnt answering it is because he's not hurt.

Yes he is. Watch the games. He can't make a simple go route throw 30-40 yards downfield even when winding up the hardest he can. He made those throws with no issue last year.

He's clearly hurt.

His poor decision making is compounding the problem along with his inability to run

Of those 3 things (decision making, running ability and arm talent), he has one. Take the arm talent away due to his oblique, and you have the product we see on the field

In some cases, Nuss isn’t letting the play develop and he’s throwing the ball before the receivers finish their route. We’ve had some crossing routes that he’s thrown the ball in the middle of two guys while they were crossing. Sloan isn’t good, but Nuss plays like a true freshman.

We are stuck with Nuss. Kelly will not change. LSU probably has three more regular season losses.

Well I could point to many, many examples, but I'll use one that should drive the point home firmly: Some might remember that mister genius, Nick Saban, had Josh Booty starting all year in his first year on the job, with decent results, but when LSU was getting their butts kicked at halftime by Georgia Tech in the Peach Bowl, he put in Rohan Davey, who absolutely torched them, and went on the following season to have what was probably, at the time, the best season for a QB in LSU history.

Booty may have been the third best qb on that team.

I don’t know what’s wrong with the guy, but what about his hype going into this year was manufactured?

Why do we not have a receiver on the left side of the hash?

Its all going to come out at some point but there is something wrong with Nuss. I'm not talking physical injury he has some type of issue.

What is being lost in this pic is three rushers and one is free.

The guy is “free” 2-3 yards away from nuss who is already in his throwing motion (ETA the ball is already out lol) and even if he hadn’t started he has MASSIVE running lanes to take off and run for likely first down OR at least STEP up which would cause the RT to be able to reengage with the end or the end would run himself out of the play

That’s the first thing I noticed too. My only potential defense of Sloan here is that it clearly sets up other receivers to be wide open at other parts of the field.

The fact you post this statement and get so many upvotes makes me feel a better about the state of LSU fans at this point in the season. The rose colored glasses are coming off many......

Kelly says, almost emphatically, that Garrett is fine. He isn't. He didn't look fine in that game

He has something wrong with his shoulder...just my opinion based on being a qb and a pitcher that had some arm problems. His throws from game 1 weren't what they were when we have seen him before. He is known to be a gunslinger because he loves to show his arm off and trusts that he can make the throws. I don't have any stats but most of his passes or at or behind the LOS, because the longer you try to throw with a bad shoulder that more it hurts. I haven't seen one long throw this year that made me think man he has a cannon. He routinely underthrows receivers and just doesn't have the zip on the ball this year. Also I seem to remember him being on a "pitch" count with throws in fall practice.

Disagree. He is a shell of himself compared to most of last year. His mistakes from last year were different from what we saw Saturday.

What’s even worse, is that they’re trying to protect Nussmeier and his draft status. They’re afraid (both Nussmeier and the coaching staff), to admit that he has an injury for fear of tipping NFL teams off as to his injured status. This all comes at the expense of our LSU Tiger college football team. It’s as if Nuss future earnings are more important than the team goals and the fans and everybody else that supports the current LSU Tiger football team. fricking ridiculous.

This is sort of the point. MVB would have a least broken that pattern with a couple QB draw plays at OM.

I don’t think Nuss is the reason we have been so bad, I don’t want him to get benched and think the best bet at this point is to stick to the plan you had going into the season. But this isn’t your typical “play whoever the next guy is” argument. MVB has a different skill set and has played at this level. There is merit to putting him in just a a change up, even if it isn’t to permanently replace the starter…but if he does then that’s what’s best for the team.

As a side note, Nuss hasn’t had any semblance of a deep throw. I do think he is dealing with injury or limited range of motion, and that should absolutely factor into this decision (and possibly preserve his draft stock). Being able to go deep appears to be a major part of this offense, we do take shots but I cannot recall a single one that was over thrown
