So, basically, Dak Prescott would have just been a blocker for our Tigers?

Amazing isn't it? Here was the most recruited QB in the country, a 5* sought after by Saban, Meyer, Spurrier, Kelly, Jimbo and at least 20 other big time coaches and LSU whiffed on him.
When he offered to walk on the LSU staff told him to go play someplace else.
So he did.

Dak's replacement at MSU, Fitzgerald a 2 star that had offers from UT Chattanooga and State. Mullen has the kid already breaking Dak's records.

Fitzgerald became the first 1,000-yard rushing quarterback in Mississippi State history. His single season mark of 1,243 yards trails only Johnny Manziel (1,410 in 2012) and Cam Newton (1,473 in 2010) among SEC quarterbacks.

Is that actually true? We offered him, albeit late, as QB, correct?

I hope this was one of the reasons Les Miles was fired, and the reason why he will have a hell of a time finding a job.

If they fired every coach who missed out on an in state 3* recruit no coach would have a job.

Dak would probably be a good tight end.

Amazingly clear Teutonic observation.

Better yet, how could Mullen not even win the west with what clearly was the best QB in the sec the last decade. Better, than tebow, better than Johnny, better than Murray.

It happens all the time. Saban had a commitment (to LSU) from Heisman finalist Pat White (West Virginia) until he told him he would play db. All coaches make regrettable decisions.

Might still be in the NFL had he listened to Saban.

And the offer was as a WR because Pat White told he staff he wanted to play on offense

Ha ha. Every nfl program let Tom Brady get drafted in rd 7.
The projection of talent is the hardest thing to do in football.

No doubt but its still confounding that we could swing and miss so many times with QBs that end up being marginal (Mett being the exception). That has to fall on the coaches.

Agreed. Another one of miles' major flaws was refusing to play to our player's strengths or refusing to stop running certain plays that you know exposes our qbs weaknesses.

The rest of team was 2/3 stars like Dak. After playing behind the State O line. Dak probably feels like he has enough time to send a few texts and do his taxes behind the Dallas O line

He didn't look like a 3* recruit when he whipped our butt in our own house while at State.
