Was he the one who said he drove River Road to The Box & was suprised he could not see the river? Paraphasing but he said something along the lines of "they piled up dirt to keep the river from overflowing". Obviously not from this area but gave the LSU fans/program a lot of good PR for recruiting purposes. Glad he never mentioned the K Lady; can only imagine the props he mite have given her.

During Saturday's post game interview, he told Aaron Nola he heard a lot about Nola going into the game, but wasn't impressed. He asked how Nola managed to keep it together for 7 innings.
Last night, Leland thanked Bregman for giving him the honor of being in Bregman's presence this weekend and left it at that. No question was asked.

He really seems to be a convert
He only jumped on the LSU bandwagon late in the last game when it became apparent that LSU was going to win the Regional.

As someone in the game thread mentioned, he was like the baseball version of Perd Hapley.

Leland said there was definitely a rivalry between the tigers and cajuns. So that settles it.

He had such an informed opinion on everything else, it's hard not to take what he says as gospel truth.
Print the rivalry t-shirts.

Just wish someone other than LSU fans had been watching while he was recruiting for us.

He meant well but he was horrible
Pretty much this. He was spectacularly bad at his job, and he spent long periods of time on completely irrelevant tangents that made no sense. I learned a lot about the makeup of the team of 12-year-olds he coaches, but I have no idea why he was talking about it. He seemed like a nice guy, but he provided no insight, and actually took away from the game. By the third game, I watched on mute.

I think he got off on saying Boutte. Could have made a drinking game out of it.

Was that the guy that analyzed ULL's approach at the plate on Fri night by describing the plane and pendulum to create the torque to elevate the ball to hit homeruns and all kinds of adjectives I had never heard of.
Why didn't they just send Ben McDonald or hire Ronnie Rantz who would have been prepared and known everything about each team.

Ha. I started laughing when he said that. Pretty sure it was some where along the lines of
"Make no mistake about it, there is a definite rivalry between these two teams."
I had to explain to g/f (no pics) why this was so funny to me. Someone needs to explain to Maddox what the definition of a rivalry is.

I'm sure it's always a war when the Warhawks and Bears get together.

Okay....he is an ex MLB scout. I grew tired of hearing him over analyzing players....as if he was giving a detailed scouting report. Yes, use the scouting skills you have to give us your perspective on a players hitting, fielding or pitching ability but his approach to color commentary was way too analytical for my liking. "I like watching a batters hands when he swings."
And while I'm at it.....how many times did his side kick use the trite sports cliche "You know the Cajuns won't go down without a fight."
