Leavitt is in a tough spot

Sam Leavitt comes to LSU as a transfer junior -- just as Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels had done. Leavitt did not have the benefit of participating in Spring practice and will have to come out firing on all cylinder with a starting schedule of Clemson, Louisiana Tech, at Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
Some may forget that Burrow and Daniels had very tough times getting settle in the first four games of their LSU experiences. After four games in 2018, Joe had completed just 49% of his passes for 183 yards a game. Jayden completed 72% in the early games but for only 209 yards a game and tended to break out of the pocket early to the consternation of his receivers.
It will be interesting to see if Leavitt will be able to quickly sync with on an offense loaded with transfers who have not worked with one another in the past.

He will have better coaching than both of them his first year here.

It's tougher than people here want to admit, it always is as a new transfer QB. But the offensive coaching staff is a big advantage for Leavitt. And we should have a good running game to help

Les Miles won 9-10 games a year playing elite defense and being able to run the ball. Yes, these are different times but the point still stands, run the ball, play great defense and you’ll be in position to win most of your games.

The style of offense when Burrow first played for LSU was “Stone Age” as he later described. Things would have been much different had Joe Brady arrived a year earlier.
Also, Burrow’s first games at LSU were the first games he actually played in in college, period. Leavitt has much more game experience- especially against big-time opponents- than when Burrow first started.
JD had experience but was less proven as a passer at the beginning of his junior year. He was hesitant to “let er rip” which took some time to overcome. I don’t think Leavitt has ever had that issue, plus he has Kiffin and Kiffin’s offense which are more friendly.
Not saying that Leavitt won’t have any bumps with a new team, but he’ll be a lot more ready from the start.

He has apparently been putting in a ton of work and building chemistry with his WRs. You can kinda see this already. Sure, it's just practice but he looks pretty accurate on his throws and he's hitting WRs on breaks in stride. I think he'll be fine. Apparently he worked his butt off to get where he's at right now.

He's coming in with weapons all over the place and arguably the best LT in college football. He also comes into an offense that's easy to learn and fits his skill set. The same offense and staff that just made a Division II QB a star.

The game is different now. You can basically import a new roster every year. That wasn't the case when Joe got here, and the change at OC was what really helped. Jayden for some reason just wouldn't let it rip his first season. Sam isn't gonna be perfect. I might put a $20 on him to win the Heisman just in case, but i don't expect it. Just do well enough to get LSU to the playoffs. That's all I ask.

We can win 225 yrds per game passing and 175 rushing . I think the D will be outstanding. I think Sam will rush for 40 or 50 per game.

I’m optimistic with Seaton and Moore as proven commodities, love the Bordelon 5th year senior story so far. But that’s a bold statement. If these guys gel quickly and we avoid injury, it def has potential to be an elite line that will take this offense where we all want it to go.
