It was reported when they were hired. Not sure why everyone is blowing up over this now. If I remember correctly, it’s his step son and his son. It’s nothing new.

1.) Is this legal?? I know that strict nepotism laws were passed in Louisiana a while back and do not know if they apply to this particular situation. It really does not seem like they are qualified for their position outside of there dad being the head coach.

Nepotism statute R.S. 42:1119 was amended for this to be ok.

quote:

  I. Nothing in this Section shall prohibit the employment of an immediate family member of a coach of an athletic program at a public higher education institution on the staff of that program nor shall the provisions of this Section be construed to hinder, alter, or in any way affect normal promotional advancements for such an immediate family member.

I never understood this BS… why isn’t losing games an appropriate “cause” to fire a coach?! Only top job in America where you can do bad at your job and be paid a fortune to be fired

Shouldn’t their salary be public domain because they’re university employees?? I’d be curious to know how much they are being paid.

All LSU employee salaries were in the LSU library when I was there, one professor showed us going on about phd’s and where you get your degree and some other crap.

Analysts likely are not paid university positions. If they are paid by TAF funds, nepotism laws do t apply as TAF is a private entity

I don’t know anything for certain, just speculating

Mulkey's daughter was on her staff at Baylor for years. Would yall be bitching if she was on the coaching staff at LSU? If you did Kim would kick your arse

Yes, it is common. The Bowdens worked for Bobby. Richard Pitino worked for Rick.

IIRC Manieri hired one of his sons so it seems customary. Now that I think of it, I believe Saban had his kid on payroll in some capacity.

I looked on LSU's staff list and only saw his stepson on it.

I guess all these people who are raising cain about CEO's kids working for him are equally upset about Kim Mulkey's kids working for her???

His step-son, Tyler, has been on staff since LM was head coach, before O was even on staff. He's been an offensive analyst since O took over. His son came on as a student coach/intern once he quit playing.

Nothing illegal going on, just working for the family business.
