Criticize but don’t be a fricking moron.

“We can’t win with this pitching staff”

What’s our record the last 20 games?

this team isn’t sniffing omaha baw. need to learn how to throw strike and play defense. sadly it’s too late in the year to fix those major impediments

Omaha is still very likely.

We MAY drop out of #1, but we're still gonna be top 4 easy. Probably no lower than #2. Will win our home series against Miss State, very likely win the series at UGA. We lost a road series against a mid-tier SEC team, that made it to Omaha last year.

You stay top 8, you stay as host for both Regional and Super Regional play. Playing at home gives us a big advantage, being the 1 seed in a regional means you play a #4 seed game one, that we can win without throwing Skenes. We then face the second best team without their ace, against Skenes. So very likely we make it through the regional.
Super Regional is a 3 game series; it will be at the Box, against a team no better than what we've faced in the SEC; say Kentucky, Bama, Tennessee level. We also very likely take that, just as we did beat those teams at home.

First weekend of Omaha becomes the challenge. You can't hide your pitchers against anyone. Skenes wins his game, we still likely take 1 of 2 with the rest of our weekend rotation. But starting with game 4 of that, we're gonna be very challenged, and will need all the bats to win slugfests.

If we make it out of that, to the Finals, it's a 3 game series again. I think the strategy then is to play for a sweep.
Without Skenes, you don't have the arms to try to win 2 games against a top team. So you don't bother trying, you pitch everyone to win one of them, and trust Skenes to get the other.

What was your opinion of OM at the end of the '22 regular season? 14-16 in the SEC.

They were 32-22 leaving Hoover.

It's all about playing your best ball when it matters most. When Shores and Edwards went out, we had to recalibrate the entire pitching system save Skenes and Floyd. That was compounded by Hurd's struggles as a starter and now Little. Our pitching was bad in G2 and G3 with few exceptions.

We have potential but these guys need to get comfortable out there.

IMO if this team makes it to Omaha, the ceiling is 2-2.

It's one thing to criticize the team and another to spout idiotic predictions. There have been much worse teams than this one win it all. There is no "ceiling". If not LSU, then who do you think is the favorite to win it? Wake? Maybe, but history is against an ACC winning it all. South Carolina, Vandy, Florida, Arkansas? All those teams have issues too.

I hate to even mention this, but Tennessee is going to be a very dangerous team.

They haven't had the year expected of them, and Dollander has been beat up a few times (especially early), but they're built for a run. They've got a deep bullpen, and if they can make it out of the first 2 games, the deeper they go the more the advantage swings to them. Look at what they did with LSU (who was hot then)- lost relatively close games to start the series, then lit us up on game 3.
They're the type of team that can climb out of the loser's bracket.

At what point are fans allowed to criticize the team?

Why do dome of you believe you have to criticize the team. They are playing as hard as they can and trying their best to win. Sometimes the other team plays better, sometimes one team gets a fortunate break, whatever just support them. Some of you act so fricking entitled.

How many runs per game have we scored in the last 20?

Average LSU score - 8.1
Average opponent score - 6.9

Median LSU - 7.5
Median opponent - 6.0

Compare that to Arkansas, who has a similar record in the last 20:

Average Ark score - 7.6
Average Ark opponent - 5.15

Median Ark - 6.0
Median Ark opp - 5.0

Now that the pitching caught up to us this weekend lets see what adjustments Wes and Jay make to the approach of the pitching staff. Clearly the staff has struggled at points with giving up free bases.

It was just last season that Ole Miss really showed folks how baseball works. You get hot at the right time, you can win it all.

Funny how ppl downvote someone posting stats. Its a glaring and real issue but mUh NumBeR 1. I don't want to see these same sunshine pumpers blame defense or pitching if we get bounced in tourny due to those same issues.
