He pointed to a primary reason to come here was the fertile hot bed of local HS recruits.

5* Ahmad Hudson seems to be entrenched to Nebraska
5* Albert Simien all but locked to Notre Dame
5* Elijah Haven to 'Bama
What are the chances we get any of these guys?

You think LSU should pay a HIGH SCHOOL KID $1.6M to play fricking football???? If so, then you'd be THAT GUY complaining they didn't sign a lineman or some other position kid out the portal that they need but now can't afford.

People need to get a grip,the age of NIL some of these players want millions of $$.Do you pay a high schooler who probably won’t contribute right away or go into the portal and get a guy with skins on the wall.A very low % of HSers ever pan out at first ,so why have a mill $ sitting on the bench.Coaches have a lot of tough decisions to make,recruiting has just changed so much.

in fairness to the original poster, it didnt come across like he was saying we should or shouldnt get any one particular player - but rather lane kiffin's expressed desire to be at LSU where the insane state talent goes.

The work on the 2027 guys was mostly done. the relationships being built with the class of 2028 and beyond is the real mark of Kiffin’s staff.
Royal was always going to highest bidder. if Florida wants to throw goofy money at high school wide receivers, let em. I trust this staff to evaluate and develop among the best, so don’t break the bank and lose the chance to fill up on this class.

We need OL, DL, LB , CB , and receivers with size.

Calais is better than Royal at 1/4 of the price

Bryce Underwood was a 5 star too. Ratings don’t matter as much as talent and coaching. I’d gladly take a roster full of 3 and 4 star Louisiana guys with Lane as head coach.

With NIL and the Portal, high school recruiting is so much less critical than it used to be.
