My god how did so many people like this false information?? It was not the lsu players asking to run the clock. They would never ever ever ask lane that. It was the other team and refs who asked that.

That makes the timeout even funnier ??. If the players are asking the coach whether he wants to run clock, something definitely got mixed up

Was it the players that asked that or the refs? Thought this came from the ref because McNeese was asking

Listening to his press conference and that was the answer he gave for why he called the timeout and chewed the team out coming out of halftime.

That was kinda what it sounded like he said today because he was nondescript but the day before he said the refs said the other team asked about a running clock…

I always known lane was a very good coach. But before he came here, I always thought of him as being calm and mellow. I thought bring in coach O was good for motivating the team at halftime. Boy was I wrong. He has that fire in him, and you better not piss him off or your riding the bench.

Mikes benched backs for one fumble. You two are just making shite up. Remember better.
Pretty sure you meant Miles, the coach who left a perfectly good backup QB on the bench, while his starter was completely ineffective in the BCS Championship game against Alabama. That who you meant?

This is the rant, where people take one thing and turn it into something that they want to believe. They then spread the word, and the rest of the simpletons just follow, because it's something that they also want to believe.

Now state a fact, that they don't want to believe, and they will rain downvotes on you, but will never comment and reveal themselves, because they know how foolish it would make them look.

I admit I interpreted it wrong. I posted the clip from his postgame presser and sorry but at the time it sounded like Kiffin implied the players asked him. And I didn't interpret it as "a running clock" I thought it was more the players asking do you want to run the play clock all the way down between plays, etc.

I posted a link to his press conference in post 4. Go to the 3 minute mark and the question was "you called a timeout in the beginning of the 3rd quarter and appeared to rip the players, why was that the message" His response was "I just wanted to make sure they understood. We were talking to the players in the locker room, and we came out and there was a conversation where they asked me if I wanted to run clock". So he had made a reference to talking to players and then the next sentence said "they asked me if I wanted to run clock", didn't mention the refs and didn't say "a running clock"

So sorry I interpreted as the players asked him but can you at least understand how I could have taken it that way with the phrasing that was used? I posted this on the scoreboard immediately after the game and I guess he cleared that part up after this had already been posted. Didn't really expect this to be moved to the rant and still going days later

Yes, the one who benched backs for one fumble.

You mean the QB who's fiance' left him during the season and he stopped going to classes long enough for there to be doubts about his eligibility as well as his ability to even play the position? That who you meant?

“The players” didn’t ask…. The officials asked him or maybe it came from McNeese, but that’s what got him fired up

Jefferson was obviously trash. But let's not forget JLee went 3/7 24yds and 2 INTS just 2 months earlier.

The game sucked to watch, but Lee probably would've pressed even more and got us blown out.

I recognize that now. I started this thread on the scoreboard right after the game ended and the phrasing Kiffin used in his postgame presser (in post 4 of the thread) made it seem like the players asked him. It has since been clarified by Kiffin what he meant to say after this thread had already been made, others interpreted what he said in the original postgame presser the same way.

This thread should have stayed on the scoreboard and not moved to the rant and still going 3 days after the game but here it is I guess

I don't think the players asked for the running clock, I think the officials asked and he said no.

I think the refs asked Kiffin if he wanted a running clock. He let the team know that he wasn't going to have any part of that and they should want every second they can get in TS, because it will all be over before they know it.

What would Lane have done, or do, in those conditions?

Apparently there’s still a lot of Miles and Kelly aficionados

Kelly can go frick himself.

Miles won us a natty. Was I mad when he was fired? No, I was ecstatic. He should have been fired well before he was fired. The game changed and Miles didn’t and it became extremely frustrating. That said, there were a lot of really good years, great defenses, great players and traditions that come from that era. I remember the Miles era fondly except for the end.

Ummmm what?!? Les did this all the time. Cost LSU the Ole Miss game when he benched Jeremy Hill.

He didn't do it for the most important game of the season. National Championship and you keep Jefferson in there.
