So when coach O was told he was fired and the status of all assistant coaches and coordinators who recruited players to LSU's futures were in the air, they should have demanded for all players on the roster and prospective recruits to stay committed to LSU?

It's well known when a staff is being let go players look elsewhere, usually closer to home or wherever their second choice was after LSU.

Also, some of those players were "protecting their draft stock and didn't suit up, or others were preserving a redshirt so they didn't play.

Y'all act like O didn't coach the UCF bowl game with WRs playing at DB the year before.

Take off your purple glasses and admit that O left a depleted and completely undisciplined roster when he left.

They’re unable to see nuance when it comes to their chosen ones. People still worship at the alter of O just as they do with their buffoon of a god emperor, one of the worst Presidents in history.

Let’s look back to January 2022 when we trotted out a WR to play QB in the bowl, a position he’d not played in over 5 years. Let’s say someone told us that day that over the next 2 years we would have a chance at 2 10-win seasons, we’d win the SECW, have a Heisman contender at QB, and go 1-1 with Bama. Rational fans would have praised the job of coaches and taken that 10/10 times given the where we were vs KSU.

This was always a several year process. Overachieving in year 1 never changed that.

It's hard to say what NIL has done to recruiting, but it seems like too many blue chip players are leaving the state compared to years 2000 to 2019. COVID/Olastyear doesn't count.

Then he has no excuse. He has had two years of Portal and NIL.

As was mentioned in the earlier Post, we had a WR playing QB in a Bowl.

Wasn't that same WR forced to play DB vs A&M, and then in a Bowl game, in Orgeron's second year.
That because of injuries and opt outs, if my memory is correct.

Anyone who calls it an excuse flat out lacks roster awareness.

He took the job in December 2021 so that class is a wash, thus he really only has one recruiting class and those players are true freshmen.

You can't build a team through the portal, there aren't enough "really good" players.

A player is only in the portal because he's stepping up from a competition level, he's a problem, or he couldn't get adequate playing time at his previous school. The odds are stacked against you building a good team in the portal, especially when they're one and done players.

He was handed a dumpster fire and he has improved half of it, the offensive half. The defense is as bad as ever.

You are correct . I remember watching special teams last year . A good high school coach could coach up special teams in a better fashion . Does Kelly watch practices ? If basics are not being taught , the HC has to step in and teach , not sit around the buffet table .

House needs to go . If the player doesn’t understand basics , then the defensive coach has to start with basics and teach them . Maybe House is used to fine tuning a finished professional on defense . That is not the case with our players . So , I think this job is not a good fit for House .

Harold Perkins
Emery Jones
Mason Taylor
DeMario Tolan
Will Campbell
Quency Wiggins

Not bad for a wash

Players that sat out the bowl game:
Damone Clark
Ty Davis Price
Neil Farrell
Eli Ricks (Surgery)
Derrick Stingley

Plus several others who were injured or transferred out.

Its a paradox to say the roster was soooo depleted and was such a mess a year after Kelly won the West title. How can we be a year removed from a title and two years from a depleted roster and the roster still be the issue?

Since Kelley took over, the offense performance, recruiting and future prospects have improved markedly and impressively. He gets credit for that. On defense, just the opposite. He gets the blame

So he is basically breaking even so far.

Amazing what O inherited outside of QB

First thing Kelly has to fix is defensive line coach and situation not only for on field but for recruiting
Next is defensive backfield coaching

You shouldnt get another year when ur this bad. Not at LSU. There is nothing wrong with firing him. It’s not like he was average. Coaches understand how this works so I don’t see a perception problem with firing him after his 2nd year. Anyone watching our games can see that the guy in charge of the defense probably won’t be around after this year. For recruiting alone you need to bring in someone new. Our defensive play is costing us recruits.

No. I don't think so . What has House done to justify keeping him? I think House goes after this year is done.

This is true. Kelly is not an elite coach.
