Lost control of the team due to being too busy chasing pussy at the Golden Nugget in LC.

He absoulty did but lets be honest, these were plan B hires. He wanted to take Rees and Freeman with him. Think of how diffrent the D would be with Freeman leading the charge.

This is the same excuse sitting presidents make when things aren’t going their way…. They always blame the guy who was before them.

Wasn't Daronte Jones a plan F hire? Why was he more effective being Orgeron's DC in a dumpster fire 2021 than House (Mr. Plan B hire) is with the 2nd best offense in school history in 2023?

It is true, he was handed hot garbage and year 1 was a success by all measures. Matt McMahon was handed a dumpster fire as well and clearly isn't getting any benefit of the doubt, but hey this isn't 2000 it's 2023 and NIL reigns supreme. Mulkey and Johnson have already turned their respective teams back into contenders/champs.

Kelly deserves this smoke IMO as he famously stated "this is why I came to the SEC, to play talent like Alabama and beat them," or something to that effect.

The roster was so bad last year that they were able to win the SEC West and beat Bama. They underachieved this year. That's the truth

Yep and any success that is realized is quickly touted as their own doing, never any credit to the prior admin.

And he threw gasoline on the embers.
What do you expect in his third year?

From the depth chart the game before Kelly took over

DE- Soni Fonua SR
Desmond Little So
Savion Jones FR

DT- Maason Smith FR
Jacobian Guillory FR
Bryce Langston FR

DT- Jaquelin Roy So
Guillory FR
Langston FR

DE- BJ Ojulari So
Savion Jones FR
Phillip Webb FR

LB- Mike Jones So
Hunter Faust Jr

LB- Greg Penn Fr
Aaron Bentfield So

Nick- Pig Cage Fr
Sage Ryan Fr

CB- Darren Evans Sr
Lloyd Cole SR

FS- Jay Ward Jr
Jordan Toles So
Derrick Davis Fr

SS Todd Harris Sr
Matthew Langlois Fr

CB- Damarius McGhee

I count 5 walk on in the 2 deep.
4 total DTs.

That depth chart is abysmal.

On a scale of 1 to 10, what would you say is the talent level of the defense that LSU rolled out against Alabama.

We have way too many bottom line fans who can't tell what is the cause of our failures. It feels good to pretend that the issues can be solved by just firing the DC. Unfortunately, our issues are much bigger than that.

Whoever is going to coach this defense needs AT LEAST two years to get enough talent on defense to compete at a middle of the SEC level.

Our DL will be devoid of talent after this year. We know that the talent in our defensive backfield (minus the freshman) is non-existent.

If we make changes on the defensive staff (I'm ok with this), it should 100% be based on guys that can recruit and get talent in with the goal of restocking this defense.

THIS OFFSEASON, we need two immediate difference makers at all 3 levels of the defense. That's almost impossible.

Tackling, being out of postion, not staying in your rush lanes, leaving wide open uncovered is a coaching problem- Scheme is problem/ no adjustments. That is all coaching. If they dont understand it then its on the coaches.

Not much difference from 2020 - 2021 to be honest. I’m really tired of our defense looking so lost, inept, stupid out there.

For those asking how did he inherit a massive dumpster fire, how about 39 scholarship players on the roster at the outset. A bowl game where a WR was playing QB. He essentially had to rebuild the roster from the ground up. Why do fans think it's that easy to do? It's going to take several recruiting cycles to rebuild this team. That is reality, folks, like it or not.

Everybody wants to give Kelly all the credit for turning around the offensive side of the ball. 7 of our 11 starters were brought in by BK.

...but somehow its still Coach O's fault for the awful defense Kelly has put on the field. Its O's fault why we're getting out-schemed. Its Os fault why we can't tackle. Its O's why we can't get any pressure on the QB. Its O's fault why we're giving up 500+ yds on defense to anybody that has a respectable offense.

...and Its still Coach O's fault why we can't land any blue-chip interior defensive lineman, LBs, or Corners that will immediately impact this roster.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say LSU has better talent than:

Middle Tennessee
South Florida
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Arkansas

Those teams all allowed substantially less yards and 3rd downs to Alabama than we did.

Not to mention Kentucky, Chattanooga, and probably Auburn in year 1 of a rebuild, who will all lose to Alabama as well.

No one is asking for perfection. To pretend we don't have the talent for basic adjustments is ridiculous.

You nailed it. And I'll add one, the same people that are belittling Jimbo for going 8-4 with a multi-million dollar roster due to shite coaching are the same ones saying it's players that matter and House/BK shitty player development doesn't matter.

The only consistency in any of these threads is frick O, BK needs more time or something
