What story is the media pushing?

As long as Kate doesn't go play for that guy over at SC.
Kate would be the fourth-string center for SC this year. At best.

And do you think any American GI's had anything to do with us importing a bunch of Nazi rocket scientists to Huntsville? No they didn't.
And no we didn't get along with them. We sent the German POW's that we housed in Wilson, Arkansas to Russia where they all died in Russian camps.
You're overmatched in this subject.
LOL you have no idea. You are an emotional little bitch and soft as hell if a 17 yo girl from Russia triggers you like this.

Kind of dumb of her to leave now. Koval can't transfer to another team until April 5th 2027.

I was unaware that Anna was leading the invasion of Kyiv, pretty impressive for a 17 yo basketball player.
Alright let's add perspective then. You have a teenager moving directly from Afghanistan to play on your kids high school team in 2005 (4 years post 911). How do you think the reaction would be here?

I guess the best we can hope for is that you haven't reproduced.

And US GIs got along fine with Germans and Japanese after the war, even married plenty of them.
My favorite post-war coming together story is former members of the Luftwaffe coming together with the US military during the Berlin Airlift to get even more supplies into Berlin faster after the Soviet Union tried to close it off
This was just 3 years after WWII ended

I was curious at how Kate would handle this. It had to be hard for her to make the decision. That's probably why we haven't seen her in team videos for awhile. Probably praying and mulling it over which is a good thing.
Think about it if you're in her shoes. As much of a good player and good person and leader that you are, they're bringing on someone from a country that poses a threat to your father's life and family members' lives every day, regardless of whether the new player believes in the war. Then you have to become friends with this player as a true teammate no matter how good a person she is, and at the same time this new young player plays your position and is better than you (I'm sure Kate realizes that). Your playing time is already impacted. And next year- your last year- they're bringing on Caroline Bradley, the best freshman post in the country.
With Grace and Morro already on the team and probably both around for two more years, you're suddenly relegated to backup minutes over your final two years, not much of an improvement from your first two years even with all of the hard work you've put in over the summer. You've made strides over the summer, but you would really be squeezed for playing time from here on out mainly due to a new arrival from a country you do not like (to put it mildly).
I totally understand and support Kate in this situation. I pray all the best for her and for protection for her family. She's improved and will make an impact for some team- I hope it's not against LSU. I really loved the way she dove for loose balls as a big girl and was the first to support all of her teammates in a grandmotherly way.
That said, I think Anna will become a superstar and have an immediate impact. She looks like a great person, too. Maybe they can get Joyner for that fourth post slot, although in the interim they have Meg, who's worked hard, improved and whom everyone is overlooking.
Better for all concerned for this to happen now. You can't tell me that Kim Mulkey is that surprised and hasn't had a contingency plan in place. I surmise that Kate came to her a while back and Kim told her to take some time to think and pray about it.
It will work out for the best for all.

You know there were plenty of refugees that came to the US from Afghanistan then and from countries that the US has been in conflict since the US was founded right?
We have Iranians here right now and if there was a 7' girl I don't think there would be a problem with her playing basketball.
The kid playing basketball would be fine, we are not talking about importing Taliban fighters or any other soldiers.
This is a 17yo girl playing basketball. Put that is perspective.

Melt bitch and stay out of Baton Rouge, there is a 17yo Russian girl there and I don't think you could handle it. Stay in your safe space.

Yes I'm well aware. We were the invaders for most of them, we were the initiators in most of them.
You're operating as if Koval is supposed to be Ghandi or Jesus while I'm looking at it relative to how 95% of the people here would act in the same position. Especially if their parent is a part of the army for the country being invaded.

My father was a ball turret gunner on a B17 and had friends that were in the Luftwaffe. My uncle served on the Enterprise in the Pacific and had friends that were in the Japanese Navy that were happy to be in the US.
Plenty of people can distinguish the differences from the actions/character of a government and from an individual.

No, she doesn't have to be Ghandi but just because someone was born in Russia does not mean she is for the war or a bad person. CKM wouldn't allow any BS or harassment so yes, it is a bit of an overreaction.
People wouldn't say anything if CWW found a 7'6" Iranian to play.

Curious as to where you got your inside info that she "hates" the Russian???? Coach Mulkey confirmed last year that Koval told her that she's afraid for her father every day. Her father is in an active war zone. Is it unrealistic to believe that her father / parents were against their daughter's new teammate from Russia? How many friends or relatives have been killed by Russian missiles? Ukraine has been fighting, in one capacity or another, Russia going back to pre war WWII. Stalin starved millions of Ukrainians to death prior to the war. You have no idea how much hate exists between these 2 countries. I have no doubt that this decade + hate for Russia had a role in her departure And I have no doubt that her parents were involved as well. "Bigotry"?? Jesus !!!!

I really do hope everything you've said comes to fruition. Although, I do NOT believe Anna will be a big contributor this season. I think she'll provide depth off the bench. The potential is there however.....................but so was it when Kate was a five star HS recruit.

Agreed completely that it was a beautiful moment.
The key word here is "after". Not to mention "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kicked in here.
It's an apples and oranges comparison.

It is no different than connecting Anna to the Russian invasion.
She has zero to do with any political or military decisions. She's only 17 and the invasion was 4 years ago when she was 13. What in the Hell was/is she supposed to do about it?
If this was a Russian soldier it would be different, but this is a young girl with no connection/control to the war except where she was born. There is nothing that disparages her character etc.

Lol at anyone in this thread acting like they understand her position or what it’s like being from somewhere that’s been getting actively bombed every day for the last few years.

Sad situation
What are the odds of a Russian and Ukraine on the same SEC team
Ceiling of elite 8
