"Russia more of a republic than the USA"?? Don't know much about Russia, uh? Putin was the head of Russia's KGB, comparable to Germany's Gestapo. In every way. At last count, as far as media here knows, Putin had 81 former oligarchs killed, from flying off the top of buildings to being poisoned. His Russia has zero rights of what we enjoy here. Using Russian athletes has nothing to do with citizens rights.

I had dealings with both Russians & Ukrainians on my Greek Isles cruise two weeks ago. To my surprise, the Russians were much more polite & friendly than the Ukrainians by a mile. The Russians were very apologetic about how horrible Putin is, while the Ukrainians talked trash & tried to boss people around. I always thought they were the opposite of what I experienced, but that was just a small sample. But enough of a sample to get my attention.

To be fair, the battleground is primarily on the Ukrainian side. They've gotten the occasional hit on Russian land (especially recently), but it's primarily landing the home turf of Ukraine and thereby the Russians mostly get to go home in relative peace depending on where they live. It's more personal to the people that don't get to sleep peacefully forgetting about it
