You have 5 downvotes for stating facts. That is the epitome of sunshine pumpers not accepting the truth.

I don't necessarily agree that Freeman (and his staff) got out coached that much but he did make some questionable decisions that did not go well (fake punt, FG attempt late) and his top-ranked defense got abused - both in the air AND on the ground. The very moment the ND QB displayed scripture on his wristband after 1st drive of the game I got the feeling that was going to be as good as it could get. Ohio State offense was loaded w multiple skilled players. Not having a spy on the QB was a big mistake. Freeman will get better. ND ain't going away. Not sure Kelly could have pulled off the victory but I do think Kelly would have gotten his team in position to win/tie late in that game. Let's focus on LSU in 2025. Pretty good feeling going in w the skilled players and leadership coming back and overall skilled players on both sides of the football. Let it happen! Geaux Tigers!

Freeman had $20M that CBK didn't have. That is the difference. And he still lost and the last time they won was Lou Holtz who looked liked the recliner was eating him last night.

I’ve been critical of Kelly, but facts are facts ND will be hard pressed to attract top talent given their academic restrictions. AND Kelly took them to the NC pre-NIL which is even more impressive IMHO.

Eh… how’d that work out for the Trump haters?

Freeman won 2 major bowl games in 2 weeks. He's 39 years old. Kelly doesn't have 1 in over 30 years of being a HC.

And ND fans wanted Freeman fired a few years ago. OSU fans wanted Day fired this year

It’s safe to say fans have not adjusted to the transfer portal era, and do not know how to judge coaches. Just last year everyone was sweating Florida St & washington

No against freeman but BK left him with a very good team.

ND trailed by 8 points with a minute left. That's a single possession.

Except when BKs team does it though right? Then it’s just an absolute failure at every level.

Keep pushing your dipshit little fricktard swamp trash narrative.

Not vindicated but it'll quiet the noise a little. But he needs to start cashing some checks.

This past month, Freeman beat 3 teams that finished in the AP top 10.
That equals Kelly’s 12 season ND total.

Acting like somehow Kelly didn't have ND in the exact same spot, all with no NIL, no transfer portal and no 12 team playoffs.

This is the key point. The changes in the college football landscape have made it very difficult (if not impossible) to compare Freeman and Kelly at ND. The world Freeman works in is totally different than the one Kelly had at ND. The recent success of schools like Indiana and even Vandy show that with the portal and NIL, it's possible to turn your roster around pretty quickly. Would ND be where they ended up this year without Lincoln Riley? Again, the scene is so different now you can't directly compare the two coaches.

When evaluating coaches, swag should always be at the top of the list. Simply can’t win without it.

...

Freeman made a NC game and we ended the season unranked. I'm not sure how vindicated Kelly is.

It's year 3 and we're unranked.

Notre Dame losing in the national championship isn't an accomplishment for Kelly
