Pate is fantastic. Don’t let the morons on this board make you think any differently

Heisman QB?
If his passing improves, he can be a real threat. If he's the same hesitant guy as last year, he's another elite athlete throwing the ball and the chance of a Heisman nose dives.

He usually has good takes, but what did OU do? I think he wanted a hot take, but realized how stupid it was (just like I do 5 mins after posting what I do usually). What did USC do to get ranked ahead? I’d argue he put programs that had all the pieces to succeed and failed ahead of us.

Is Josh hiring folks to post a video of his every day?

I would imagine. He is part of a big network now like cbs or something. They definitely put out clips daily.

He just don’t wana look like an idiot next year when they ball out

Don’t take it out of context. He’s using a 3 year period. LSU had .500 and sub .500 seasons before BK came in.
This isn’t about LSU’s success over the past 23 years. If you’re using that metric, the only programs you can argue as being up there with LSU are Bama and Ohio State. Georgia is good right now but the other two have longer sustained success.
Oklahoma and ND are on this list because both of these programs were better in 20 and 21 than LSU was. Y’all gotta quit getting riled up over out of context click bait and quit thinking the entire world is against LSU. Majority of the media world speaks highly of LSU especially now that BK is there. This mentality is so cringe. LSU could open up as preseason #3 and some of you people here would say “SEE I TOLD YOU. THEY DOUBT US”. Uh sorry Georgia Bama and Ohio State exist?
Mic drop

He essentially repeated what he said yesterday as a reminder. I had zero issue with his criteria of rankings and it makes sense. I do take issue with him ranking USC without the same criteria and not giving LSU those exceptions, but it is his ranking and show.
The more I watch Josh Pate, the more I like frankly. Guy loves football and his view points are reasonable.

9-2 & Big12 Champ in 2020, 11-2 in 2021, 6-7 in 2022. 26-11.

5-1 in 2020, 4-8 in 2021, 11-3 in 2022. 20-12 w/2 appearances in the Pac12 Championship Game.
We went 5-5, 6-7, 10-4 with 1 division title. 21-16.
He was fair.

His ranking was based on the past 3 years. The past 3 years, lsu was 5-5, 6-7, and 10-4. Now do u think it’s worthy of a top 10 ranking compared to those other schools?
Yeah, except when he was listing some of his teams he was discussing their records going back further than 3 years. So he wasn’t consistent at all with his measurements.

But you can’t argue ND deserves to be where it is because hypothetical head to heads, but then anchor LSU because for W-L record from 20 and 21.
Not to mention that ND’s coach from those years is now at LSU. That’s not a hypothetical

And I just think it’s so dumb that he happens to cut it off the year after 2019 and that it shouldn’t be considered, what a load of shite. It was the greatest college football team of all time. And he still didn’t put us in the top 10 as of late. Big miss on his part.

Only shot JD has a Heisman is if he learns to trust his receivers. He is unwilling to throw to 1on1 matchups. Those matchups are what a modern passing game is all about. They are how Burrow made his name.

I don’t see what the fuss is. 2 of the last 3 years we sucked. It was a 3 YEAR REVIEW. He loves LSU and Kelly and made it clear we’ll be back there VERY soon. Some of you are really REALLY sensitive.

If he had can be more consistent passing and his play mirrors the UF, bama, and ole miss games then he will be in discussion.
Last year, in all of cfb, he was ranked in the 30's for total offense and total tds. If he improves on those numbers and we win 12-14 games then he will be in the discussion.

He was using only last 3 years as his perimeter but all time last decade etc, and those were two of our worst years in last 20 years and we are still 11th on his 3 year list. Pate is very high on CBK and LSU and our stability and future. I think we may have been one that said LSU with a responsibility adult in charge is a big deal or something like that. This is ll a big nothing burger.

The difference is that we’re talking programs not teams.
Sure, the team had a couple of down seasons due to coaching. The program never faltered, though. Fan, booster, and player support were all maintained, as evidenced by the quick bounce back we observed last year. That’s what elite programs do. They recover quickly from a misstep.
It’s also a major mark against some of the other programs (both in Pate’s ranking and not) who often get touted as elite: USC, Utah, Texas, Notre Dame, and Penn State have all demonstrated some shortcomings and lack of buy-in over the years. You can’t be above LSU if that’s the case.
