Knight must have saw writing on the wall during summer workouts
Miller and Pinson had not made their decisions when Knight made his.

Will Wade is doing his job by constantly looking for guys who can improve his roster.

Is darius doing summer workouts with the team and such? I feel Wade’s strongest coaching attribute is player development.

I believe he's been training in Florida all summer up until camp this week in Chicago.

BY FAR the best rebounder on the team last year

Just because there is no competition doesn't mean he was good at it

quote:

would be the best rebounder on next year's team as well

What a bold bold statement

quote:

Reid is a skilled young big man. But he's not a great rebounder relative to his size.

Way to put a 5-star Center into a box without seeing him play 1 minute of college basketball

quote:

Eason is a Emmitt Williams type of player.

So...better at rebounding than Days. Because, that's what Emmitt did

quote:

But he's not a great offensive player or someone who you run an offense through.

Umm that's weird, because Wade has actually said they have been downright shocked at how skilled he is. Also, Days never once had offense "run through him"...he was a pick and pop or put back guy.

quote:

Days would be LSU's best returning 3 point shooter.

Well LSU's yes because we lost most of our team. You really haven't paid attention if you think Darius Days is a better shooter than Miller. I absolutely won't argue about that either, Miller is hands down a better shooter than Darius Days.

quote:

Probably not. But there is still an "unknown" factor when it comes to Pinson and Miller in an LSU uniform. It could be that Days emerges as a bigger option if those two guys aren't as great a scorers as we expect. He was the most efficient offensive player in the SEC the last two years. He took a backseat to three other guys who needed the ball in their hands to create offense on their own (Smart, Thomas, Watford). But that doesn't mean he can't play or score. The ONLY reason his total scoring numbers were higher is because he took less shots than Thomas, Smart, Watford.

There is so much to unfold here. If you're saying Miller and Pinson are unknowns then Days is, too. Days is 100% a stand on the 3 point line and shoot or get the rebound and put back guy. He is incapable of creating his own shot. He has not done it in 3 years, we've barely even seen him dribble ever in an LSU uniform. He took backseat because he needed the others to serve him the ball. He's undersized and has no low post moves, and he cannot create off the dribble. He was the 4th option because he was the 4th best player.

quote:

The ENTIRE starting line up (except, at times, for Wilkinson and Hyatt) were terrible defenders. It wasn't just Days. LSU lost the games when he didn't score...but it wasn't simply because Days struggled on defense

This has been a Darius Days thread, correct? I've been referring to Darius Days. I haven't been talking about the others. They did all have problems. I never said Darius Days was the sole reason we lost a game or the sole reason for bad defense. I'm just pointing out he sucked on defense, too. However, why are we all the sudden acting like Days is some irreplaceable player? This is a guy that is who he is. He's inconsistent, he's undersized, he lacks certain offensive skills. He shows great hustle at times, he's a very good Pick and Pop player that can spread the floor, he's very likable and seems to have the ability to be a good leader. He's not an NBA player, he's not a G Leaguer. He's the type that good college teams need. He's a 4 year type role player. He had NO ONE to push him for PT last year. He won't get 30 minutes a game. His numbers will very very likely decrease and I just simply wonder if he's ok with that. Reid is going to play and be a stud. Eason will get minutes. Eason and Days play nearly identical positions although they play it differently.

I would love to have Days back. I welcome him with open arms. The more weapons we have the better, but c'mon, let's be real about this guy's ceiling. His ceiling is what he did last year. That's a great ceiling to have because that's all we need from him! Everyone gets so butthurt if you critique a player. He's a 6'7 PF who is a shooter and can't create his own shot and isn't good on defense. He does rebound well and shows emotions and brings some toughness. That's who he is and who he will be

Pinson and Miller will play on the floor together a lot. I don't know why so many people are sleeping on Adam Miller. He's training with USA Basketball right now, he's a downright STUD. He went to a loaded and veteran Illinois team and played a ton and was their 4th option just because of the other talent and how they played. He's going to be awesome.

To me, this means Murray is who they thought they were getting even though lots of recruiting services slept on him until late. Knight saw he was behind Pinson, Murray, Gaines, Miller (maybe even Fudge depending on lineups) and realized he better get out before he wastes another season.

Regardless, WW doesn't like to play more than 9 dudes anyway

Aren’t they both 2 guards? Pinson def didn’t play point at Mizzu, Dru Smith was one of the best PGs in the conf last season.

Knight was more of a 3.

Miller & Pinson are both smaller guards. Pinson should be the PG & Miller the off guard. Knight was likely competing for time with Mwani Fudge, Murray, & even Shareef in some lineups

You’re right for sure about Knight. I was talking about Pinson and Miller but I agree that Pinson seems like he could play the point he just hasn’t done it yet. To me PG seems to be the biggest question mark with the roster so far.

About the PG position? I hear you man, ball movement wasn’t good last season and I’m not a fan of training 2s to be 1s every other year.

I would love to have Days back because he would provide experience and leadership for the new guys. He plays hard and is a good rebounder, but lacks the foot speed to defend the 3 and the size to defend the 4 or 5. On offense he can shoot the 3 off of the pass but can’t score in the post due to his lack of size and he doesn’t have the ability to create his own shot or get to the rim off the dribble.
Overall he is a good college player who will probably never play at the next level.
