It seems lost on him that if you're poison on the team to the point that a guy not even dressed out suddenly wants to play when you aren't in, that's a you problem.
I mean, he apparently STILL is kind of an a-hole because shite man........that water is WAAAAAAY under the bridge and he's still whining about it.
I agree the issue was clearly Booty, but to be fair to him, i don’t think he’s just walking around bringing this up on his own.
He was clearly asked specifically about it by an Alabama guy because of the similar situation that played out this year with Hurts and Tua.
It’s relevant to try to see how it can get into a guy’s head, although I have no doubt Hurts will handle this much better than Booty ever could.
Booty answered pretty bluntly and honestly how he saw the situation, and Winey dressing out at halftime after Booty was benched is a fact. The motivations are unknown but it isn’t hard to see why a competitor may hold some resentment for that even if it was his fault to begin with.
As for being a “better passer”, Booty was regarded as an almost technical marvel throwing the football, even though that didn’t make him half the actual quarterback that Ro was. But at least that very literal statement isn’t too outlandish as something to hang his hat on from a guy that never came close to tapping his full potential.
I’ll say this, whatever faults Booty had, I’ll always be thankful that dude made it to BR because he is the one that recommended that my favorite player ever move to WR.
And without J Reed running wide open all day every day Ro isn’t floating 500 yards against Bama or torching Illinois in the Sugar Bowl anyway.
And sure as hell no one else catches that pass in the back of the end zone against GT in the Peach Bowl so they were both critical and it all happened exactly the way it needed to for LSU to start the Golden Age.

Brandon Winey. True he did come off bench at half.
Winey wasn’t really injured.
Dude’s future agent was in his ear about playing in the bowl game and hurting his draft stock, so he fabricated some injury.
At half, he finally decided to man up and play.
Greg Gathers was eating up his replacement all 1st half.

Saban would have snapped his finger once and the bootys would have disintegrated from earth.
From a former coworker that played for Saban when all this went down, that’s basically what Nick did. The Bootys thought they owned LSU football because Dinardo gave them a ton of access. Saban didn’t. And Josh was “wronged”.

quote:Yep. He was an 'accidental douche', meaning he wouldn't initiate a conversation as a douche, but his reactions/replies would always be douchey. It's hard to explain. Basically, as long as he was dominating the conversation and doing all the talking, he was fine. As soon as you asked a question douche man kicked in.
Typical Booty reaction! Not his fault, ego showing and in denial of the resulting success of the conspiracy to unseat him.
quote:lol, in a 162 game season he projected out to 112 strikeouts. Just turrible. But yeah, ALL baseball players seem to have that streak in them.
Booty came into Lsu after a few years in the MLB. In 97 he won a WS with the Marlins, I bet his ego was over the top.
ETA: Right on Tiger Voodo

I can remember sitting next to a Bama fan the next year in Tiger Stadium.
He said they tried everything to stop Rohan to Reed and they just couldn't do it.

Said he loved Rohan but believed he was a much better passer than rohan. ....... if he had it to go over again would have told saban he wasn't coming out of the game. ......Said he relates to jalen hurts. Very upfront dude
Rohan never cost us a game against UAB.
After Rohan performed lights out vs Tennessee the following week and gutted it out on a bum ankle with late game heroics, he was the man. Booty only got the chance to play because of Ro's injury.
There was a story that Saban was not too enamored with Booty's attitude. I have no doubt that the players rallied around Rohan. As for the Peach Bowl, Booty was awful in the first half and LSU was only in the game because GT kept shooting itself in the foot.

Lucky Rohan wasn’t starting over him all year. He should have been.

I’ve never seen a team get up and play so hard for one player. When Rohan came in it was like two different teams. he’s right about the LT.
I do t believe the part about Winey dressing out at halftime. I was sitting in the tunnel and saw him run to the locker room to get changed with about 3 minutes left in the half. Brandon Whiney came off the bench and saved the day, Reed made some amazing catches, , 7/11 played lights out, and Ro got the team up.

After that game Saban called up booty to stand before the team and told booty that he was the reason that LSU lost to uab. Right after that Abram transferred.
A friend on the team said that they called an Evangel play from their high school days and nobody but him and Abram knew what to do.

Loved Rohan my arse. He’s a bonafide, lazy a-hole who only cared about himself. Spent all his free time lying on his arse playing video games. Rohan lived in my apartment complex, drove a beat up Crown Vic (I guess he wasn’t one to take handouts) and was one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He was also scared shitless of my little dog which I always found hilarious.
