One thing I will say about Jones is that he actually took a squad he recruited to the tournament. That’s more than what McTimid can say.

I’m 36 years old and McMahon is the worst LSU’s MBB coach in my lifetime by a pretty decent margin.

He's not even the worst in men's basketball. Your constant hyperbole makes it hard to take anything you say seriously.

Oh please enlighten us. Who is worse?

Jones: recruited a team that made the tournament

Johnson: inherited talent and made the tournament

McTimid: help me out here. Making the NIT and blown out at home? Maybe the Kentucky win last year? Has he made the NCAA tournament at LSU? Yes or no?

I think woodys pride plays a factor, wanting to show that firing Wade wasn’t a mistake at any cost

Ehhhh....I don't know.

I suspect your arugment would be Hallman is the worst. While it is impossible to make and apples to apples comparison between two different sports, you can evaluate individual futility relative to each sport.

Hallman's LSU career record was 16-28 (.363)/SEC record 10-21 (.322).

McMahon's LSU career record (to date) is 44-47 (.480)/SEC (reg season) record 13-35 (.270). Given what lies ahead on LSU's remaining schedule it appears likely those numbers will decrease further over the next few weeks.

Obviously Hallman's overall winning % is lower. But keep in mind, only about 18% of his games were vs. non-power conf. programs. Just under 30% of McMahon's games have been against such opponents. That means Hallman was not getting as much of the benefit of playing lower-level competition to pad wins. Once you take away McMahon's wins over the UNO's, Winthrop's, Alabama State's, Miss. Valley St's, Arkron's, etc of the world, you see that he has been WORSE than Hallman against power conf. competition...as evidenced by his SEC record.

I get it, not many LSU fans are big basketball fans. Both of LSU and the sport as a whole. They are more casual fans who will follow LSU briefly in Jan/Feb to see if they are any good, but largely tune out LSU basketball, and college basketball as a whole, until filling out a bracket for the office pool in March. Thus, I don't think many fully understand the scope of the futility and why those to are big basketball fans are completely discouraged by the news that we're going to have to sit through what seemingly is another unnecessary year of futility.

Press Maravich and Jay McCreary were both worse in MBB. You may be able to make an argument about Press.

Yeah, I can't buy that argument. Even with two seasons every bit as dreadful as McMahon's two seasons, Johnson's overall winning % at LSU was .520. His SEC winning % was .391. Jones had a .556 overall winning % and .467 SEC winning %. McMahon is sub .500 overall and sub .300 in the SEC.

In addition to reaching the NCAAT, Jones never had a losing season in SEC play until his final year, which was an unnecessary lame duck season destined to fail (sound familiar?). Year 2 and 3 of Johnson were awful. But at least Trent had one of LSU's 3 SEC championship seasons between the years of 1992 - 2018.

McMahon has been all the suck of Johnson (there is a vulgar joke in there) with NONE of the good, albeit limited, of Jones or Johnson. Maybe he shocks the world and has a great season next year, but until then I don't see how anyone can rationally make the argument he hasn't been the worst HC in men's basketball (at least in the last 50 years) when every single objective data point says just that.

Apologies if my earlier post wasn’t clear. I am also saying that McMahon is worse than both Johnson and Jones. I agree with your data and sentiments on that.

I watched it at Spankys in Prairieville IIRC.

A glorious night for a Duke hater.

Some of yall live in a serious fantasyland thinking Scott Woodward is on any hot seat. He is well liked by everyone who writes the check and carries himself much better than Alleva ever did, who never had a hot seat and won a lot less across sports.

What does this even mean? Are you an lsu fan that takes glee in us being bad at basketball because you don’t like watching basketball?

Maybe the dumbest shite I’ve ever read on this board lmao

He won the SEC and was an 8 seed the SEC was so bad then. Not to defend McMahon but the SEC is substantially better now so not the apples to apples comparison.

Some of you are just completely unhinged and irrational. I’d like to see a coaching change in MBB too but idiotic comparisons and hyperbole don’t accomplish anything

Hallman and McMahon are basically the same person. Ja Morant was McMahon's Brett Favre.

Step 1: Luck into a generational pro-level talent at a directional school.
Step 2: Convert your "success" into a head coaching job at LSU.
Step 3: Profit.

Needs a $3+ mil per year nil fund. Then judge him. Nil drives winning just as much as the coach.

Curly Hallman was really a great coach, he just needed more NIL
