Audio of the last 2 minutes

I heard Bert Jones recently say the clock operator was his second cousin.

I was a freshman in Tiger Band. After Steve Lavinghouse missed the field goal, we started playing Tiger Rag, over and over. The team responded by going the length of the field and the rest is history. We played music in the stands for 30 minutes after the game. Nobody left, except for that empty section in the SE stands where the Ole Miss fans were seated!

Bert has jokingly said that for years. Usually follows it up by saying he’s never actually met the operator from that night.

I was there in the student section as a freshman. Wild memories for sure.

Who the frick downvoted the OP?

I read somewhere that after the game, Ole Miss's student newspaper had a headline that read OM 16 LSU 10 + 7. And the next year, after we beat them 51 - 14, the Reveille's headline was OM 16 LSU 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 + 3 + 3 + 3.

Remember this game like it was yesterday....Was sitting in the North end zone with my fraternity. After the game we stormed the field and helped pull down the goal post. Several fraternity brothers were able to walk out the stadium with one of the uprights and carry it back to the fraternity house.

YES SIR..you are correct! No disrespect to any before or after him but he was the greatest of all time!!
Who could ever forget..
"Jones back to pass cocks that mighty right arm.."
"He shoots a blue darter..."
"He's in the moon light..."
"There goes Davis hustling around the right side..breaks one tackle side steps another and roars up the middle for 2 yards"!!!

But also Walter Hill adding a word here and there...it was great!

Mr. John had such a professional voice and he was so good. I remember years ago Jim Henderson had a heart attack and could not broadcast Saints game and the organization brought in John Ferguson to fill in.

Except in that particular video, it doesn't sound like him at all.

This is true. I was at the 1973 game in Jackson; Brad Davis ran wild on them.

The headline I remember was the Advocate, which read LSU 7 + 7 + 7 +7 +.......

This.

Here is video of the 1971 LSU-Notre Dame game with Ferguson's call starting about a minute into it. This is the Ferguson voice that people remember.
