re: Jayden Daniels sends cease-and-desist to LSU after Pickett given No. 5

The C&D isn't about LSU not being able to issue #5 to another player. It's about LSU no longer being able to use Jayden's likeness for advertising, promotional, or commercial use.
So the #5 is his forever in terms of usage off of the field?
Shouldn’t he be suing EVERY college, high school, junior high, etc. that uses the #5? I mean, what if the peewee qb liked him at LSU and wants to emulate him?
Or is he saying that anyone wearing #5 at LSU can’t use the #5 off of the field simply because they “look” like him (likeness). I mean, DJ doesn’t even play the same position.
What a shite take by him.

Also says the letter was dated Aug 5th. So it’s been a week but just now coming public. So LSU must have told them to pound sand as DJ is still wearing it
Someone knew something about it because Kiffen was asked about it at his press conference last week.

Daniels was promised no one would wear the number.
By who?
And, did that person have the authority to do so?

Blaming picket is retarded. In the “beginning” he was offered the number before JD won a heisman
Sure, but then he did win a heisman. So grow up, honor that, move on, and pick a different number. Wanting to be promised a jersey # is honestly just as immature.

What a moronic move by Daniels

LSU will always and forever be bigger than you Jayden.

That’s not how it happened if he promised DJ 5 first and then promised Jayden cry baby no one would wear his number after winning the Heisman. It’s a stupid mess created by BK being stupid and in retirement mode and by Jayden being a selfish crybaby. Pickett is here now and Jayden is history of 9-3.

Well one is a teenager and the other is a pro QB. Maybe the pro should be the mature one.

small chance, but id lol if DJ ended up having two incredible seasons winning multiple awards and lsu decided to retire the number 5 under his name
as far as JD#, i thought he was better than this the way he has carried himself.

It's worse that Pickett doubled down on it heading into his sophomore year, not a high schooler anymore. But to your point, this is why LSU should've said no from the beginning, bc all these guys are divas at the end of the day

I no longer root for Jayden Daniels.

Read the article. Pickett was promised the number but "Kelly chose not to issue it to him because Daniels wasn't on board with Pickett wearing his number."
Daniels was promised no one would wear the number. Pickett was told he could. Either way, Kelly (who I despise) made the right decision by sticking with his original promise to Daniels.
Who made the promise to Pickett?

Lane should give no fricks about a BK player that is gone. He has reopened practice and everything to all former players that BK
Shutout.
So which is it? Should we not care about former players who were made promises, or should we care about them and welcome them back by reopening practices?

He's a huge recruiting tool that you now can no longer use.
Pay attention, LSU could not use his NIL in any form after 180 days of him leaving LSU.

This is the most short-sighted, stupid, narcissistic thing I've ever seen by a highly regarded player that is having success in the NFL. He'll wish he hadn't burned this bridge when his nfl career is over.
Posted on 8/13/26 at 7:03 am to notbilly
Pretty simple we don’t let former players hold the school hostage and we can also have them come back. The pecking order is current team, recruits, former guys. Ideally we want all getting along but we can’t control that BK promised something and then did a piss poor job of smoothing it over and we can’t control that Jayden is letting a woman run things for him. At the end of the day if Jayden wants to fight with DJ we side with DJ he is here now and provides chances for wins, Jayden being happy or not doesn’t bring us wins.

If Kelly made the promise, he should honor it.
Oh wait--he's not here anymore. I guess he can honor it in his living room.
