JD really just ruined all the good will he had with this fan base. The bad publicity of trying to make LSU look bad is bullshite on his part. We’ve got Adam Schefter reporting this.

It’s clear mommy is controlling him considering the emotional bullshite.

What they fail to get is LSU won before them and will be winning after now that BK has been fired.

He isn’t the greatest player in our history and isn’t even our best player since 2000 or even 2015.

Congrats to him on being the best player of the BK era which no one wants to remember

This story defies believability. Then I remembered it’s college sports in the 2020’s. It sucks so bad now.

As for JD, if he thinks he can control what LSU can do with his historical likeness, he’s got another thing coming. LSU can use it all they like, and I look forward to the court battle over it when he challenges an image of him at the football ops center or a highlight reel of him on the Jumbotron. Which he will.

Marketing image is a whole different thing.

Total unforced error on JD’s part here.

It was disrespectful of Pickett from the beginning. LSU doesnt allow its other Heismans #s to be worn and Pickett shouldnt be an exception. LSU should've said no. But this a bad look from Daniels too. LSU could've avoided it though.

What a horrible look for Jayden. Immature, arrogant, selfish, entitled, no humility.

Football is the ultimate team sport. You are a cog in the machine to get your team to victory. College football has always been so unique in that former players have a bond with the institution and the future players who will take their spots. Jayden’s only approach here is that LSU owes him and serves as a personal revenue stream for him.

I hope LSU stands their ground and tells Jayden to frick right off. And I would voluntary remove Jayden from display on campus because LSU simply doesn’t need him for anything. It’s time we start restoring order around this crap and stop letting prima donnas run rough shod all over everything.

Was he not consulted about Picket getting the number?

A quick phone call could have avoided this

Bye, Jaden. Don’t come back. We made you, not the other way around.

I feel that way too.

A lot of fans rushing to post their take this morning. Jayden’s team certainly isn’t right, but this isn’t good press for LSU either so I’m sure they wish they handled it differently.

Yikes. So did Kelly promise 5 to Pickett while also promising Jayden that no one would wear 5?

To be clear, this is a very shitty way for Daniels to handle it. BUT there is a lot of blame to be shared. Before you guys defend Pickett just b/c he's a current player, remember that he couldn't wear it last year, so he absolutely knows the situation. Someone promised it to him. We don't know if it was Kelly or an assistant.

Regardless, I think it's fricked up that we are letting someone wear #5 this soon. I know the number can't be retired, but this is either Kiffin not giving a shite about a former player or Pickett strong-arming Kiffin over a jersey number or maybe both. Recruits get promised shite all the time. Is Kiffin going to honor all the promises of playing time every recruit was given to get them to campus?

I’m not sure he can tell a university what number they can give a player.

And if that’s what he wants to never be mentioned by name how would that hurt LSU?

LSU essentially erasing him hurts him far more than it hurts LSU.

Lane isn’t out here recruiting qbs that only want to be here because Jayden won a Heisman. The kids come here for the current coach and Jayden is one of three winners of the Heisman, he is one of many NFL guys on our wall of NFL guys. No one would actually notice if he wasn’t on the list. That is what happens when you have 50 plus guys on the list.

Dude needs to get over himself. He doesn't own any of his NFL or LSU images or videos that LSU uses

If JD wants to play hardball, fine. Produce the contract that states that LSU agreed to never award the number to another player.

If one exists, then fine. You win, JD.

Otherwise, he can take his demand and choke on it.

Ridiculous nonsense. You don’t have any say on how LSU assigns numbers. There only so many numbers and they simply can’t stop using some to appease some delusional ex-players.

Blaming picket is retarded. In the “beginning” he was offered the number before JD won a heisman.

Read the article. Pickett was promised the number but "Kelly chose not to issue it to him because Daniels wasn't on board with Pickett wearing his number."

Daniels was promised no one would wear the number. Pickett was told he could. Either way, Kelly (who I despise) made the right decision by sticking with his original promise to Daniels.

Lane should give no fricks about a BK player that is gone. He has reopened practice and everything to all former players that BK
Shutout.

It is unfortunate that Jayden has allowed his mom to do this but no one actually wants to remember 2023. Embarrassing opening arse kicking by FSU where our offense looked pathetic, shoot out in Oxford, being knocked out the bama loss. No major wins that year
