There are no BK quotes at all in the original article.

“I just wasn’t prepared to do it until we got a full commitment from another Heisman trophy winner,” Kelly said. “We didn’t want to issue No. 9, so you can’t treat one differently from the other.”
There you go. Please shut the frick up now and get out of my mentions

Such a clown way for BK to handle it, sit down with everyone discuss it and at the end of the day you have to do what is right by the current player. Jayden doesn’t do anything for us at this point. His OC that helped him win it is gone, pretty much any player that played with him gone for the most part the ones that helped have been gone. His loser head coach was fired.
DJ on the other hand is a massive cornerback that could be the next great corner at LSU and actually contribute to winning a title.
Jayden needs to actually use his NFL money and get a real professional team around him that knows how to handle things without making him look like a bitch.
He should know it isn’t hard for us to not use any highlights from him, if we want to show off Thomas or Malik we can just cut to them running after a catch, we have a Heisman winner that we can show highlights of him winning big games and a title. To a program like ole Miss he would be a golden god, to LSU Jayden is another great player we had but not as great as Joe

So not in the original article. Like I said.

I see absolutely zero positive that JD gets out of doing this - it’s so shortsighted. It’s baffling to me why anyone thinks this is wise. And I honestly think this is not coming from JD himself, which makes it even worse. Hopefully he’ll step up and reverse course on this and fire from his business dealings whoever it is who thought this was a good idea.

I’m no lawyer, but I feel like LSU can do whatever it wants with its property. They want to show a video clip of Daniels running, does he have legal standing at all to tell them not to?
Posted on 8/13/26 at 6:05 am to 23hella
This is not that big of a deal.

I don't think Daniels has much of a say here when his agents are telling him, he's going to lose all that NIL money when LSU stops selling those #5 jerseys based off him and now it's Pickett.
Without the lawsuit, they’d still sell his #5 and he’d get $$.
Now? No jersey sales linked to his NIL.
He lost money for pride.

If the NIL he is getting for the sell of the 5 jersey with Daniels on the back is significant revenue I’d be shocked. I could see if he was like Eric crouch and had to get a real job and was only making 100k that his old jersey would be meaningful. There was likely a much better way to handle this and it would have been handled correctly with an actual good agent/team around him.

Un(F'ing) real. Get over yourself. This is silly and there are other ways to handle this.

Lol. ESPM reached out to Brian Kelly about it and he gave them a couple sentences about why Pickett didn’t wear #5 last year and you’re freaking out about it?

God I hate this fricking sport now. Make picket wear 41 or something stupid and be done with it.

Yea not sure he would be top 10 sec qb of all time.
He would be somewhere around money manziel, Heisman winner with some really cool highlights.
Joe & Cam both have way better more dominant seasons, then you have guys with 2 or more better seasons like Tebow who also has a Heisman and championship.

I’d double down and remove everything tying him to the university. Take his name off everything, remove the trophies he won, everything.
You want to be a bitch? Cool. We’ll remove what little legacy you do have and act like you never even played here.

So your solution to this absurdity is to give in to the pressure? That’s not it.

Exactly LSU wasn’t built by Jayden, Jayden isn’t our only modern guy that can be the face of a program. He is a cog in our machine and frankly as fun as his highlights were it’s not an important cog as hardly anyone is going to remember 2022 and 2023 because we had no major bowl game or titles.
Aggy might be in a worse spot if money manziel acted this way or ole miss if the Manning’s got upset but those aren’t championship caliber programs.
This is like someone working for a company than when they leave getting upset because their role was filled

It’s been done before. Rather effectively, actually… with another #5.

Jayden made it clear that he did not want his number given to another player, and he believed his wishes would be respected," the statement said. "His Heisman Trophy-winning season and everything he accomplished on and off the field cemented his place in LSU history. To see his number given to another player is incredibly disappointing and feels like a failure to honor the significance of what Jayden accomplished at LSU
Boo fricking who. If he would have won a natty things would be different. This completely changed my entire perception of JD…
#5 to me is Keiland Williams, Derrius Guice and Skylar Green.
Get bent Jayden.
