It's not my decision. Did someone ask for it? Players get ridiculous over their jersey numbers as it is.
This was an unbelievably dumb move by JD5 or whoever represents him. His legacy was cemented here forever already regardless of if anyone wore #5 ever again or not. As I said, I loved him, thought he represented LSU with total class, and I thought he had one of the best QB seasons of all time. Period.

His legacy is cemented in college football - he won the most prestigious trophy in the sport. That's free marketing for LSU that we've forfeited for a player who at best could win the Thorpe (all due respect, hope he does and would be a hell of an accomplishment). Can you name the past five, or even two, Thorpe winners? I can't...

I am so disgusted by the Daniels family on this one.
Do you think Joe would care if 9 was issued? I doubt very seriously he's this soft. I don't understand worrying about a number. This is absolutely nuts to me. Very disappointed by Daniels here. Spurrier's number was retired at Florida and he made them un-retire it. This is so silly to care about someone wearing a number you once wore. What in the world? Wants nothing to do with LSU, because someone else wants to wear 5? What in the world?

So what? Just retired Heisman number ever? Retiring numbers really needs to stop.
There are so many other ways to honor a player. No need for this.
Steve Spurrier made Florida un-retire his number and he won a Heisman.
Tebow won a Heisman and 2 Natties at Florida and is one of the biggest/greating players in all college football history and Florida never retired his number.

This is stupid on many levels. I remember seeing someone else wear 15 at Florida and thought it was interesting. Apparently that’s just the way it is.

This looks like a joke headline. I had to read it twice to make sure I could believe my eyes. This might the be the pinnacle of entitlement. Taking legal action against your alma mater because a player is wearing the number you used to wear. Unreal. What a silly idea.
