How the frick is this being down voted!? I underestimated the number of total fricking idiots on here. #5 should be retired, Jayden won the HEISMAN TROPHY and losers on here want to get on their knees for a cornerback who will hopefully be as good as Kevin Toliver II. Give me a fricking break.

This guy gets it!
quote:

Jayden “won one meaningful game in 2 seasons stat padding against shite teams” Daniels wanting to be treated the same as burrow is a joke.

“1 meaningful game” is laughable…plus, he’s not comparing himself to Joe, y’all are
quote:

I get that coaches have a lot going on, but this was flatly mishandled. The process seems simple: LSU's administrative staff schedules a Zoom call between Coach Kiffin, Jayden, and Pickett. Kiffin and Pickett take the call from Kiffin's office. On the call, Pickett expresses his sincerely admiration for Jayden and respectfully asks Jayden if Pickett can wear #5, both to honor Pickett's high school and to honor Jayden. Kiffin and Pickett both acknowledge to Jayden that they could not fathom any LSU offensive player attempting to wear #5. Jayden most likely says "yes" and ESPN gets to tell that story during the Clemons broadcast. If he says "no" then Pickett wears #3 but sees that Kiffin tried to make it happen Why the hell does LSU football employ so many people if they can't get something like this right?

Undoubtedly the most sensible take in this thread (& possibly this site in a long time)
quote:

You mean the program that saved him from the slums of ASU, a place where even his own teammates hated him and allowed him to play on national television every single week with the best athletes in the country? The program that knighted for you endlessly to win the Heisman when everyone said you didn deserve it because you were on a team that wasn’t in the running to win anything? All because some guy that plays defense wants to wear a popular number that you and many other before you wore? Derrius Guice was a first team All American, did you get his permission to wear 5? This just a really bad look on JDs part and makes it look like he never really gave af about LSU to go to this extreme for his personal feelings.

While I do agree with the “player on the other side of the ball” angle to some degree, there are only a select few Heisman trophy winners in college football history…

& when there are only 3 in your programs 133+ year history, that should definitely be honored and respected…period…but, especially to a larger degree than this board has proven willing and/or capable of
quote:

For simply winning a Heisman on a team that accomplished nothing and finished 5th in the SEC? Lol congrats on the individual award.

Simply…? A team that easily could’ve went 7-6 or 6-7 without him…? Yes

He maintained our dignity in a time of severe need. We could have been Florida, Auburn, or even worse

He helped preserve the cache of the brand until we could usher in the new regime
quote:

Whoever is in this kids camp has got to go. He had a special year at LSU no doubt but you don’t get jerseys retired for awards. I got respect for JD but you are not on the same level as Joe B. That man brought a whole city together. For all the goodness jd has done in BR this is a selfish move young buck.

Not selfish, the man only wants the respect he deserves
quote:

JD needs to worry more about keeping his skinny arse healthy and less time being a bitch! He must be getting advise from Ryan Clark!

All y’all need to put some respect on JDs name (& his #5 for that fact). What have you ever done noteworthy for the program? More less, in life?
quote:

He can't get better in BR? Driving your 14 year old kid that far to workout seems a bit weird.

Was probably staying in NOLA for Mardi Gras and wanted him to get some work in
I can get on board with something like that
quote:

This not good for anyone in the long run when enough fans get fed up with it and the revenue drops significantly.

I think “enough” fans are already fed up, but I also know revenue and viewership is climbing more than ever. Some guardrails will eventually be put in place, but the CFB of old is a thing of the past.

The timeline needs to be re-evaluated. Institutions shouldn’t be allowed to pressure kids into signing something prior to the opening of the portal window, then holding them hostage when the window opens and they now have opportunities that supersede what they’ve already agreed to
quote:

There needs to be a governing body with teeth overseeing this mess of a system that could enforce similar rules.

You do understand that historically there has been one of those. It’s called the NCAA. They are the incompetent assholes who wielded one-sided power and control for decades that made them the rich fat ficks that they are.

Now that the players, whose backs they gottten even richer off of have some modicum of power and the ability to get paid for their labor/contributions, you have a problem?

But all of this makes you uncomfortable huh, poor you
quote:

I’m more referring to the fact that I don’t like COLLEGE athletes playing for 7 years.

I can respect that, we’re together there. But admittedly, a few weeks ago I would’ve gladly taken Chambliss with a waiver had I not known what I know now
It’s football. Let’s just really be honest for a change. Do you really give a shite about what classes these guys are enrolled in or what their major is? I hope they are doing something to set themselves up for life after football, but honestly, for the most part I don’t really give a shite as long as they can help us win football games.

Most of y’all are butthurt about the freedom of movement players have and the fact that they can get paid which incentivizes that movement
The new CFB is the BEST, most watched, and most lucrative it has ever been. Always been lucrative and offered options for the coaches and the institutions, but now that the players are empowered and can get paid too you have a problem?

There’s no more one way loyalty to your favorite institution and it creates uncertainty that makes little “SulphursFinest” uncomfortable…oh no
Absolutely love this, and thanks for putting it together! Would be more helpful if each position was ordered by returning starters, then other returners by class, transfers in, incoming high school kids

Best food and chefs come from SW Louisiana. NOLA chefs ain’t originally from NOLA. Gotta cross the Atchafalaya for that authentic flavor. NOLA food is the commercialized version of the real thing
What evidence do you have to support this or is this pure speculation as I expect it is?
