Except to themselves: This fiasco isn't just bad for LSU. It's bad for college football at a time when NIL is exacerbating this sentiment.

What loyalty? He is a California kid who went to Arizona State then randomly landed at LSU. Blew up and went to the NFL.
He never really was an LSU guy. He was a guy who happened to play at LSU. Burrow was an Ohio guy and still is an Ohio guy but he leaned into the Louisiana thing a little bit.
Point being, neither of these guys are Louisiana sons. They don’t have that emotional connection to the state the way guys like Fournette, Hester, Mathieu and Devin White do.
Those guys would die for Louisiana no doubt about it. They grew up dreaming of being a Tiger and wearing those letters was an honor of their lifetimes. It means so much more for guys like that than out of state guys. Always will.

Yes true but it’s just different for the home grown guys like the ones I mentioned.
The guys from out of state eventually grow to love LSU and Louisiana like Whit Weeks. The guys like Devin White bleed it by the time they step foot on campus. It’s pride and it’s their heritage.

Burrow does it excellently: yes he’s focused on his roots but he throws LSU a bone here and there. That’s all that’s really needed to be revered given what’s he’s done.

For his Heisman, yes.
But he was never on a great LSU team. And I still think guys like Mathieu and Pat P are ahead of him
