Jayden Daniels Career Numbers Breakdown

I am only posting this because I think people are so hung up on Brennan (who has yet to stay healthy longer than this sentence) and refuse to give this kid a chance because he is a Dual-Threat QB. Jayden Daniels has already graduated (in 3 years) at Arizona State and has 2 years of eligibility left, which is part of why he chose LSU, to increase his NFL draft status.
This kid is an underrated talent that no one was talking about because NO ONE expected him to transfer to LSU so quickly.
Oh and he runs a 4.5 40-yard dash, which is incredible for a QB that is also 6'3"

On LSU Daily Moscona had a guest on that knew the ASU program and before the season he was projected to go into the draft but due to an off season is coming back to redeem himself. Most that have watched him over the years think he’s got a lot of upside.
I still think Brennan wins the job

I’d bet Brennan wins, but great post and all valid points. Kid is super talented

They barely played games in 20' and he threw 10 tds in a full season at ASU. He had a good fresh season but has done little the last two years. Maybe just a bad team, maybe just struggled, or maybe teams figured out how to play him...which is often the case with dual threat. Either way, agree, Brennan wins the job. If he doesn't, I can only imagine what the sec defenses will do to this QB.

Talented and the word is highly inaccurate. Watched that show too many times.

Brennan can win the job and they can still use Daniels, it's a win win

Whew! That was a lot of work you put in. Thanks for posting. It will be good to have an experienced quarterback as a backup who can step in if need be.

Translation, no one knows which Jayden Daniels we are going to be getting or who is going to be starting.
If he balls out and wins the job and provides us with great poise and accuracy then I'm all for it. But he is not going to be given the job and people underestimate how talented Brennan is.

We really don’t know how talented Myles is he has played a few games and put up some numbers against bad sec teams. Also we don’t know what kind of health he is in.

Why would him being a dual threat make ppl not want him? Unless "dual threat" meant something else

You’re onto something there…

Put up numbers with lousy O line, lousy defense and no running game, all of which improved later in the year.

I watched this kid play a couple of times last year. He is a true wild card. He made terrible decisions at times (could be coaching) but has a lot of upside cause of his arm and ability to run (which they will need against top tier SEC defenses).
I still think Brennan has a MUCH better arm, but Daniels will play. I wouldn't be shocked to see both on the field at the same time.

We do know how talented he is. Don't know if it will translate to the games in pressure moments but the talent is there and undeniable.

There is no stat for *pocket awareness/presence *field intelligence *leadership *quickness on top of experience

Dual threats have been all the rage, but LSU seems to be more consistently successful with a pocket-oriented guy. I think the basic analogy I'd use is basketball:
you have guards that score close to 30 a game (ala Chris Jackson), and you have guys that can pass for approx 10 assists (ala John Stockton).
LSU's talent in the skill positions makes this a better place for the assist guy. A DT guy running the ball takes away plays from the WRs and the RBs, both of which are probably the better players in the open field.
Now, this could be offset by having the defense worry about the DT qb, giving those skill players more big plays when they do get the ball. We'll have to see.

The QB that can read the defense the quickest and who’s the most accurate will start. Period! Burrow should get a ton of credit for the way the OL played in 2019. He read the defense which helped the blocking and got the ball out quickly so the OL didn’t have to hold their blocks as long.

Iron sharpens iron. The Starting QB will have to truly earn his spot and that’s about all we can ask for.

This board forgets just how good Brennan looked before he got hurt in 2020.
Majority were screaming for Max in 21, and we all know how that turned out.
I’d still bet money Brennan starts. There’s just way too much arm talent to discount him. With the improvements (presumed at least) on the OLine giving more than 2 Mississippi to work, he could be scary good.

Max johnson played behind a lousy OLine, no running game and had decent stats
