Probably needs the financial backing. Women’s basketball can get fricked.

ETA: Men’s basketball also

Yes, because only one program other than FB can realistically succeed at LSU Why do we always have to choose one or the other

That said, if he lost in the regionals to LR last year (which was really close to happening) and this year happened as it has, there would be some real noise about moving on.

That is an excellent point, and it shows the fine line between success and failure. It is what led Rudyard Kipling to call them “those two imposters.”

Jay literally said he’s not interested At this time.

Then he followed up and confirmed that he's "not interested" because he hasn't received an offer YET.

No one forced him to follow up. It was a stupid fricking thing to say during the season.

All you people can keep living in the fantasy that Jay will never leave LSU it's closer than you think and I'll bump this thread when he does.

So you expect him to leave after this season then? Why else would he make such “threats?”

And again - what does it matter. Are you still believing that had anything to do with this season? This isn’t fricking football you dumb frick. Baseball players are fricking not built like that. They have 1 fricking goal - pro ball. 3/4 of a football roster won’t sniff the NFL

probably needs to figure out how to consistently put forth an elite product first—sorry but he was extremely close to losing in a home regional last year to UALR…I can at least fall back on all my earlier posts in which I said “very good, not elite” in terms of coaching.

Fire away from all the folks who only see results, but not being able to draw it back to more lucky than good

lol...

Yeah, this year has sucked, but you're an idiot.

According to PK, Jay Johnson: overrated. Matt McMahon: underrated.

Cool.

He did not stay “because he hasn’t been offered”. What would be the point of saying that he wasn’t interested?
Clearly he’s not ruling out the possibility in the future, but in no way was it a threat to leave.

And a breath away from getting bounced out of our home regional by UALR if you want to play the "what if" game.

A breath away? We won by 4 runs.

Name me another “great player.” One with top 10 draft potential. Hell another with first round. They are young and a work in progress whereas Curiel is a polished player with a high ceiling.

You are a simpleton and would get your arse run in just about any high level profession…if you simply have overwhelming talent but cant coach players to their respective ceilings, then the”results-based” approach will catch up to you at some point.

Considering the context of his previous position that he would never leave LSU,
Link?

Based on available reports from early April 2026, LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson has not explicitly stated he would "never leave" LSU.

While discussing rumors about leaving for Major League Baseball (MLB), he expressed having "zero interest" in leaving at this time and a desire to make LSU the best program.
