That’s what we did with CPM and look what it got us. I agree that Jay should get a raise and be well paid. I think he, and Tony V, should be paid about the same. But I’m glad they waited until CJJ proved it with a second championship. I’m sick of coaches, who luck into a championship, getting lavished with guaranteed contracts only to slack off.
I’d like to see CJJ get a great bonus, a good raise, and further incentives for performance.

I would never pay a coach that well in base salary. Pay them a fair salary for a top five program then give them contractual incentives so they can make themselves the best paid coach in the nation…by winning.

If so you let him go and get the next up-and-comer. But give him incentives such that he gets compensated better than any other coach…if he wins.

Speculating on what the AD will do is not the same thing as stating what he should be doing

JJ is only 48. Has at least 12 good years, and probably another 5-10 after that.

He’s going nowhere…. Go buy some right handed power hitters w savings….

Jay is a great coach. Jay should also be paid in line with what it takes to keep the program profitable or close to profitable. Same with women's basketball, women's gymnastics, track, or any other low or non-profit generating sport at LSU. There's a reason non-football programs are getting such a small piece of the revenue-sharing pie.
So Woodward needs to raise more money to pay Jay from ticket prices, boosters, or advertisements, while also keeping in mind that a massive buyout for BK could be coming in the next few years if he doesn't deliver.

LSU is facing an $8 million deficit in the LSUAD for 25-26. Not a great time to give anyone a huge raise.
BUT, JJ deserves a raise. So, raise season ticket prices enough for 2026 to cover his payraise.

Agreed. Should be this way for all sports teams. That way they aren’t overcompensated for multiple years with the existing contracts, however, they would still be paid fairly.

I would imagine he has some type of bonus in his contract that kicks in for each post-season win. He probably also has some type of increase factored in for winning a national championship. I also don’t think CJJ is the type of guy that would hold the AD hostage for a new contract each time he won a title. He knows he’s in THE place to build his legacy, and he’s well on his way to do8ng that.

Jay will get his money. Woodward and LSU aren't going to let him walk over a million dollars or whatever.

Not everyone wants the most cash possible. Some want to take less to pay their assistants. During some point in their career, a person just feels as though they have made enough money. They realize it doesn’t take you much farther in life especially when you currently have a decent cash flow coming in.
Jay is going to get a significant raise.

As far as I am concerned they can make him the highest paid coach in college baseball by a wide margin. He has earned it more than anyone on campus.
Mulkey can be way up there too along with the gymnastics coach.

I think you should write a check to LSU and make that raise happen.

Weird how fans want everybody to get a raise, all new facilities and the most in the NIL fund but want everybody else to pay for it.
