After the game Morris ( I think) said something like “this is also for our sec sisters in South Carolina.” That pretty much tells you all you need to know. It’s pretty obvious Reese and Morris (and Dawn Staley etc ) are rubbed the wrong way by a group of white girls who can hoop. It’s impossible to separate the racial dynamics and a large part of why Reese had it out for Clark . I’m not saying they’re racist. They all complimented Clark’s game afterwards. But the last person they want to lose to is a scrawny midwestern white girl.
In other words, Whitlock is completely right about at least some of the actors . I get that you can talk about respect/disrespect in purely basketball terms like “he doesn’t respect my jumper” but based on the South Carolina comments , Staley’s whining etc I think we know what this is about.

Whitlock and Mulkey are personal friends yet he criticized both she and Reece because he has journalistic integrity. He also criticized Clark but the race baiters aren’t about to have an intelligent, fact based detail oriented discussion when they can just slap labels on people using their worldview as a weapon.

Whitlock is a 55 yr. old black conservative. He makes no excuses and has done very well for himself. He speaks his mind and calls it like he sees it. He's been on Tucker at least once a week and I absolutely love to hear his opinion. All that aside, trash talk has been going on between competitors for decades if not longer. The whole Angel Reese v. Caitlin Clark thing is much ado about nothing.

Larry Bird talked trash but you would never know it. Larry didn't look to demean other player publicly. He let his play do that so it's not even close. There is only one side here and it is the side of character, class and sportsmanship. What Clark did in the heat of the game was not directed at one particular player. If Reece had done it in the same context not a single negative word would have been said about it. But she chose to demean an opposing player when the game was pretty much over. Then brought the race card into it. That is the difference.

Pretty honest take. I respect Jason Whitlock, and he puts more common sense and rationality in his articles, which is usually opposite of the path that corporate media is told to take. He doesn't use ulterior motives or narratives to steer the direction of his takes.
