And he didn't even implement his own defense, but took over and is maintaining Glenn's defense.

As long as the contract leaned toward incentives rather than guarantees and gave LSU a somewhat painless out, I wouldn't hate it. It's risky but the potential for a towering home run is definitely there. Just a lottle early success and elite recruits would be beating down the doors to play for him.

But I'm guessing it's too ballsy of a move for Governor Donkeybreath. Although that take may well be colored by how loathsome I find him in general. (And I mostly agree with him on issues. In a broad sense )

Michelle Obama tells us that means he's a hard worker.

First off, let's address the STFU part. My guy, we don't talk like that where I'm from. That type of language will speed up your dentist visit up. Now TRY AGAIN.

Hire Sheppard and put Saban on a 2 year retainer as a HC Consultant. During the off season(s) Nick teaches him how to build a dynasty, working to refine all of the things it takes to have a championship program.

It could work

And zero NIL management experience

Zero transfer portal experience

Zero experience recruiting high school athletes

Zero experience hiring assistant coaches.

That said, it’s a huge gamble thinking he could run a program

I think that's what a lot of posters are missing. Shep may be a great DC and a good recruiter, but a HC needs to be able to properly vet and manage coordinators, including the ones opposite of their own personal coaching strengths (DC vs OC), analysts, interviews, etc. Just a ton of extra things besides gameday.

zero HC experience

I thought this a few weeks ago, but look around. Dan Lanning, Kirby, Ryan Day, Venables, and Marcus Freeman are all first time HCs at their current program and all have had success. HC experience shouldn't be a requirement.

I understand that better than most but eventually even they will see this was the really the only play.

Yeah Kelly did have years of experience and he was 34-14 and 19-10 in conference play.
As much as I wanted a change as well, LSU fans have a short term memory of how it can actually be a lot worse than that record

Sometimes it's easy to forget how many posters here have never known LSU as a program truly in the grip of failure.

I’d interview him. If he seemed smart and driven, had great personality traits, came prepared with a good plan and was willing to take the job with only four years guaranteed I’d hire him.

I agree. I would at least give him an interview. If he is impressive in the interview, give him a shot on a short term prove it contract, Shouldn't just be based off of resumes. We need someone the players will respect and who brings back the fire and spirit to the locker room, and toughness on the field, a real leader, not some overpaid slick hired gun just in it for the money.

Yeah Kelly did have years of experience and he was 34-14 and 19-10 in conference play.
And what's noteworthy on that- that record not only wasn't enough to satisfy people, it got him fired in the middle of the season, less than halfway into his contract.

That action absolutely screams that there will be no tolerance for learning on the job, or taking time to build things up. If you get the HC job at LSU, you better hit the ground running and be a well-oiled machine... or you're looking for a job again in 4 yrs.

As tired as im getting watching coaches make ridiculous money and not prove winners, I almost rather see someone like Sheppard get it, much cheaper on a prove it deal and use the other funds for NIL players.

Get him players and he probably will do pretty well.
