re: It's baseball. How are you wizards proclaiming this CCU team better than us

So 2 wins in Omaha in 9 seasons is okay? And one of those was a walk off against rice in 08.
Well we have more than 2 wins in Omaha since 08. We swept Omaha on 09
And while our performance since then in Omaha has been disappointing, you can't just ignore everything else LSU had accomplished in that time period. The state of the program is strong. This was a solid season in what was a rebuilding year

Uhhh what? All I said was CC was better. Nothing more.

There is a huge sentiment among those discussing LSU forums such as this that LSU didn't have much talent this year at all and significantly overachieved.
For those who believe that, I think it would be easy for them to logically conclude that CCU is the better team.

With the amount of starters we last from last year our team had an amazing year. CCU clearly is a better team beating us twice, and did it playing some good looking baseball.
We all know if you host a SR you should win it, but it's not always the case.

you answered the question with your question. CCU was better than LSU this weekend. 2 games to none.
Get off your high-horse. LSU Baseball doesn't owe you a victory or anything else

Better coached, more fundamentally sound, make pitchers work the strike zone, don't go up hacking at first pitch when the last batter walked on 4 straight pitches, run the bases like they are college players not in Little League, don't run themselves out of innings, coach doesn't think every player is a base stealer, don't go up to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and then the next two batters each swing at first pitches out of the strike zone and pop up, inning over. Sorry can't think of anything else but I can get back to you. Their players weren't better except for maybe the Jordan brothers were inept but their coaching was in a different league than CPM. He was absolutely awful and has reached his ceiling. Time for this program to go in a different direction coaching wise.

Oh wait. Just thought of something. They don't run on contact with runners on 1st and 3rd and get thrown out by a mile at home plate (again) because the ball wasn't even close to making it to the outfield.

But we hosted a Regional and Super Regional. We didn't expect them to go as far as we did. Our fans are the best in the Nation. The Box was jam packed. We lost 8 of 9 positions from last years team. We can't expect to win a Championship every year. And who can forget, We are not the only SEC to not make it to the CWS.
Did I miss a justification for the continuation of our ongoing mediocrity? Given that is is well established that Joe Alleva makes a comfortable living selling the LSU Administration on mediocrity, CPM is not going anywhere.

They sure looked like it to me,what game were you watching?

They continued to put pressure on us. We didn't respond. They were the better team the last two days. We are going home and they aren't.

Agreed..... When you have a team of shrimps who can hit like that and run bases like them, they are the better prepared and functional team. And.....when we hit a shite ton of pop ups when we need a ground ball or line drive, that ends in a loss. Frustrating indeed but at one time in the season we thought we were not even hosting a regional.

I doubt the coaches told the players to make sure they swing at the first pitch no matter what is thrown Oh yea also be sure you pop it up to one of the infielders so they can get a couple easy outs here K......as most reasonable people know the coaches can tell the players to make sure they are patient and get a good pitch to hit but thats easier said than done, if you played the game you should realize this more than most. The guys obviously didnt want to pop up or strike out but good pitchers throw good pitches that appear to be hittable until they arent.

All of the pressure was on the Tigers............and they played like it.

You think we didn't hit well?
And I'll change "hit" to "bat", and it becomes even more evident.
We racked up a numerically large number of hits, but we had a horrible time advancing the runners.
Runner on second and less than two outs, how many times did we hit grounders to 3rd base, or infield popups- that prevents our baserunner from advancing?
Sometimes you have to put the ball into play where it will advance the runner, and accept that your swing, at that pitch, will result in your being out. Put the ball on the ground towards 1st base, move the guy to 3rd (or score 1 run), and play for the longer game, instead of trying to get a hit every at-bat. Trust that people are getting on, and you will have another chance in a later inning to get your hit.
Didn't seem like we did that at all, and they did a lot. That made the difference in the series.

"He has reached his ceiling". As in CPM & LSU won the SEC league championship last yr & was within 2 games of winning it again this season. Winning 18 league games when that number would normally result in another league championship. After losing 7 starters. The Jordans were "inept" for a few wks at the end of a long grinding season. They were studs on the field & in the dugout all season long. It's called baseball shite after a 60+ game season.
