Those are the two winningest programs in the history of the sport. And last time I checked, UM had about a 50 game lead....

It became a rivalry to me after the 8 OT debacle and the way their fans on social media have acted since.

It’s definitely a rivalry. It might not be a traditional rival like Ole Miss or Tulane but it’s more like Auburn. Lots of crazy stuff has happened and there is a lot of animosity between the fan bases. At from the LSU side.

A&M is a joke. And once Texas comes in the SEC, they'll play Texas last game of the year and that will, and rightfully so, return to being A&M's rivalry game. LSU ought to find a way to return to scheduling Tulane for the last game of the year. So it's out of conference. Big deal. UGA and Ga Tech? UF and FSU? Come on, man, this is college football. Bring back the game and stop trying to force orchestrated rivalries down our throats.

Who is forcing what down whose throat?

On second thought, don't answer that.

A&M is a rival in the same way Arkansas is a rival, which is to say they’re more serious about us being “rivals” than we are.

That's fair. From what I've seen over the years, both times LSU has lost the A&M game, the fans the next year care a lot more about it and are happy to at least entertain the idea of it being a big rivalry, if only for the week of the game. They play along.

But when we win, the fans go back to pretending we don't ever hype it up. When we clearly do.

How is this not a rivalry? Texas A&M's campus is less than a days drive to Baton Rouge. A lot of Texas A&M grads and LSU grads live near and/or work with each other in East Texas/Houston area. There has been 61 total meetings between the two programs dating back to 1899 in college station. Think about that, Arthur Morgan from RDR2 may have attended that game. Both programs have been in the same division in two different conferences.

Our fan base has a weird complex about not having rivalries, or defining what a rival is. It really is bizarre.

Said this before, saying it again.

We are 9-2 (should be 10-1) over A&M since they joined the SEC. That’s the kind of record you have over your in-state little brother school not an interdivisional conference rival. Yes they are extremely gay and culty but you don’t get to just be our rival by being weird. All that makes you is gay and culty. When it’s competitive call me.

Not sure why some fans are in denial.

i'm in Waco, and i live amongst thousands of those fricksticks. and i hate the very ground they walk on and anything to do with Texum aggy, and i want us not just beat them but to to humiliate them...gut them from neck to nuts, burn their flesh in their own front yards and feast upon their remains in front of their mothers and children.

but they're not a rival.

i simply hate aggy as a species, not as an athletic threat.

Is LSU in the Guinness book of world records for most rivals for one team? I’ve lost track.

No it’s not. Our biggest rivals are Alabama and Ole Miss. Then the pecking order is Auburn/UF, Miss State, Ark, then 4&8

Well, Michigan leads the series so I would so so. ANd are you seriously trying to compare a rivalry that will be playing their 118th game and 103rd consecutive (they did skip the COVID season) game to LSU vs A&M about to play their 12th consecutive game? Could you pick a worse example to make your point?

quote:

When Navy won, what? 12,13 games in a row over Army, was that not a rivalry?

shite, I stand corrected, you can pick a worse example.

It's a forced rivalry except in the minds of a few.

Hate to tell you this but that is what a rivalry consists of…
You think Oklahoma really sees Okie State as an athletic threat?
They beat the shite out of them but it’s still rivalry because they hate each other.
Same with Clemson and South Carolina.
