When Harvard won the Ivies a few years back, it was invited to the playoffs for the lower division. They sent a letter to the NCAA thanking them for the generous invitation, but stating, “ Harvard elects to allow someone less fortunate to attend”.
If we beat Bama and win out, screw the SEC. I don’t think the conference could keep us out of the playoffs. Let’s Le someone less fortunate, Alabama, for instance, participate...

You’re getting trashed by people who can’t understand the logic of your hypothetical. But you have a point if LSU was undefeated. Opting out of the SECCG would count as a loss. But what if LSU was undefeated and ranked #1? Then a forfeit loss really should not keep it out the playoff bc it’d be no different than what Bama has done when it wins a NC without winning the division. Esp if the East opponent is a team LSU had already beaten.

I’d get rid of conference championships and expand the playoffs.

That’s the real answer IMO. Won’t happen but it should.

C) I'd wager there's a rule or a ruling would be made that it would be forfeit, thus knocking us out of playoff.

Runner up would play.

It's dumb but think about it.

LSU is 11-1 and has to play Georgia.

Alabama is 11-1 and is already in the playoff.

The only thing LSU could do is lose and miss the playoff.

Something isn't right there.

In this scenario an 11-1 Alabama actually would get left out. Both LSU and Georgia would be 11-1 going into the game and ahead of Bama in the rankings. Georgia’s only loss would be to 11-1 LSU. So if the SEC CG wasn’t played both Georgiana’s LSU would be in the playoff. No way a third SEC team would get in.

Only gonna be ONE SEC team in the playoffs this season. It will be whoever wins the SECCG.

CFP will have NDame, Clemson, and either Michigan or Ohio State. SEC will get that 4th spot.

Look. There’s only one team that can get away with skipping their conference championship and still make it to the playoffs: Bama! It’s a little something called “special treatment”. THAT’S THE REASON FOR ALL THE COMOTION OVER WHITE’S SUSPENSION! They get this sort of benefit of the doubt because they’ve won multiple championships recently! We’ve not done that! There is only one way for us to get into the playoffs this year: beat Bama, win out and win the SECCG. The end.

It’s hilarious that some people think Bama has set some sort of precedent that will apply to us too. LOL!

It’s not about a precedent that Bama set. LSU would be the one setting the precedent by opting out of playing in the SEC CG. If they declined to play and were No. 1 ranked team in the country the committee could not penalize them for a game not played. Esp against a team they already beat.

You might need a history lesson. Spurrier was very much against a SEC CG for these very reasons, Hurting players before a bowl game and possibly blowing National Title hopes

So, tell me how many he skipped.

The hypothetical doesn’t work with an11-1 LSU. But it’s an interesting question if LSU was 12-0 going in.
