I’m going out on a limb and saying we win Saturday and the rest of the season. If that happens we would be the No. 1 playoff seed going into the SEC CG. Not only do we risk dropping out of the 4 spots if we lose that game, we also risk injury to our players. Is sitting out and resting our players an option?

And yeah it’s kind of a soft move but if Bama gets a shot at the playoffs without playing in the game can we even consider doing it as well?

I’ll settle for a win. But history ain’t on our side. Just saw a stat saying we are 4-19 the last 23 at tiger stadiums against bama. Ouch. I think 9-25-2 overall. Let’s just win.

If we would have beat Florida we could have lost this week, missed Atlanta and still made the playoff

You might need a history lesson. Spurrier was very much against a SEC CG for these very reasons, Hurting players before a bowl game and possibly blowing National Title hopes.

Perhaps you can list for us all the teams that have opted not to play in the SEC Championship game down through history.

Perhaps you can suck a cock. Nobody expects a team to skip it but the idea is not new and is valid

Read the history of the first SECCG. Both Bama and UF were upset about it and Slive faced fierce resistance. It has a parallel to what you are saying.

Basically Slive used somewhat of a loophole in the NCAA rules. If I remember it correctly, that loophole answers your question:

If a conference wants to hold a CG, it must be split into divisions.

It does not say you have to hold a CG if have divisions or X number of teams.

However....
A) essentially what is a collective bargaining agreement between the member schools and the conference would forbid us from skipping.

B) it would be viewed as ripping $$$$ from the conference, thus LSU and the 13 other schools too.

C) I'd wager there's a rule or a ruling would be made that it would be forfeit, thus knocking us out of playoff.

Sure. We could skip the SECCG so our players could focus on their exams like Notre Dame used to do.
