YES!!! This is the first time LSU has been mentioned and/or considered for the CFP since the CFP started. I mean a serious contender at this time of the season. I realize there's only a slim chance LSU gets into the CFP, but at this point in years before we were not in the conversation. Being in the conversation, regardless how slim a chance, is a BIG improvement and this team needs to play like they are a contender. If they lose to TAM, a team they should beat, then there will be no more talk about the CFP. This is the next step, this is where Orgeron wants his team to be. If they lose this game that progress is wiped out. Lose this game and they are no longer in the conversation. This is a game that will test if this team wants the CFP, if they want to win Championships. This is a MUST win for Orgeron if he wants to take LSU back to where they belong. People have forgotten the 5 season in a row that LSU beat Bama. Back when LSU was in the NC talks at the beginning of the season. This game will show us all if Orgeron is truly the man that will take LSU back to the top or not.

wLosing to A&M would be a significant dump on LSU, but I don't see it happening.

Yes. A NY6 bowl game is the floor for acceptability for any coach replacing Les Miles. We shouldn't lower the bar for O just because most people thought O wouldn't be able to make it to a NY6 bowl. It just shows you how important Aranda is.

We need to beat A&M.

Anyone who thinks a worse SEC record year to year is not a disappointing season is loony. That was a major argument during Les' tenure, that although his record was above 8 wins, his SEC record was getting worse year to year.

And yes, this is bizzaro world.

Losing to TAMU would be a major blow to the season. Combine that with the horrid performance against Bama and we are in the exact same spot with record/expectations/coaches for a third year in a row.

That said, solid season so far, but we still have some hills to climb. 10 is the bare minimum for O to be considered a success.

Again we have overachieved. Our coaches have done a great job against a very tough schedule. And with 3 returning offensive starters and a QB who got here in June.

And three first round draft choices on defense. Baloney, we overachieved! It wasn’t a difficult schedule in retrospect. We played two teams that are very good, Bama and Georgia. Florida, Auburn, and Miami turned out to be average teams.

It would suck to lose to the Faggies, but the truth is 9-3 would still be a much better mark than expected.

No, O is a semi-finalist for coach of the the year. One of eighteen semi-finalist.

100% agree! Steve has been given a chance but the stats this year show no indication of any improvement with regards to what we’re used to. It’s the same old same old.

Yes. Quite frankly, I feel we will be right back where we were last off-season. Not real sure what we’ve got and if we’re any better than we were under Miles.

10-2 or better is and always should be the expectation for this program.

Is 9-3 fireable this particular year? Of course not. But it’s definitely no reason for a parade or boasting.

The 7-5 predictions were ridiculous and ludicrous give this programs resources and current roster. I always said ...

8-4 or worse = total failure
9-3 = meh, but not fireable
10-2 or better = success

It all comes down to this one game.

Those crappy expectations that were set in the summer are really just a crutch. No matter where we should really be moving towards as a program, those expectations enable the Orgeron fan club to still claim his hiring was a grand success. "See See? We beat the expectations from the start of the year! See?"

What about the expectations from when Orgeron was hired?
