If Burrow wins the job and Brennan and Narcisse have time to develop(my hope finally) and McMillan becomes the backup. Burrow if he leaves early or gets hurt (my god I hope not) I think McMillan is a legit backup. I think Brennan and Narcisse have some major talent so the next few years look good with our receiver talent. Also we have really good qb recruits for 2019 and 2020 committed. Honestly is this the first time in almost a decade that we look set for awhile at qb?

I won't feel anywhere close to comfortable until after I see how our offense looks against Auburn.

No. We've never really had a problem with depth or talent. It's always been development!

So we'll have to see if this staff can develop guys...

Honestly I just think harris, Jennings, etc just weren't very good.

McMillan is as good as gone, and no one should blame him. He graduates in a few weeks and can go get some immediate PT at a smaller school.

Hopefully the grad transfer rule is what allows us to keep both Narcisse and Brennan. If Burrow stays two years, then the two younger QBs will graduate as he's leaving, battle for the starting spot, and we'll get to keep the best of the two while the other is able to transfer with immediate eligibility.

I second this. Harris was a major bust. Feel for the guy.

Way too premature, IMO.

There are significant question marks on Offense: WR, RB, QB, and of course, game planning/play calling.

If there was anyone who should have been successful, it was Harris. With all the QB camps he went to and personal training he got from George Whitfield...he just couldn’t complete a pass within 10 yards.

If Burrow is real deal it sets up nicely
Brennan will be ready when Burrow leaves
After that, you have Parish coming in and then Finley who will battle it out. I still think Finley has more upside and Parish could be an athlete you could use elsewhere.

After Mett, LSU just had some bad QB's
Etling was serviceable and I still don't think he has the arm strength to be an effective QB in the NFL yet the Pats give him a chance.

It was brutal watching harris airmail in that 10 yard range. The Wisconsin game was death watching.

I feel like I've seen this thread before.

Going into 2014 LSU had a Soph. QB who in his first action led a great comeback to beat Arkansas in the reg. season finale. They also had the nation's 3rd ranked Dual-Threat QB on the roster as a freshman...one of the highest ranked LA QB's in some time. And the passing game was being led by an OC who in his 1st season had just led one of the best LSU passing attacks in at least 5 years.

Jennings had more starts going into 2014 (1) than all three QB's COMBINED have going into 2017. Harris, as a recruit, was ranked significantly higher than ANY of the QB's on LSU's roster today.

So no, it's not "safe" to say LSU finally has a good QB situation. Now, it could be a great situation, but we won't know that until the season takes place. Right now this is just the 2018 version of what has been an annual thread since 2009

really? Does it usually take a very good QB 3 years to develop? Because Brennan, with a year under his belt, couldn't beat out 2 marginal QBs during the spring.

I want Brennan (and all our QBs to succeed) but I just have a bad feeling. The table was completely set for Brennan to step into the starting QB role, and it didn't happen.

I'm not sure another couple years of being on the roster will change that - not with other good QB recruits coming on board.

When we complete 60% of our passes and are 50% or better on third down I will answer this question.

I don't see how anyone can think this when we know nothing about Burrow at the moment and were sold on the theory that McMillan had made positive improvements in the spring.

Also, this idea that Brennan & Narcisse just need "more time" seems like fools gold.

I’d like to see Burrow throw a few passes in a game before I’d call him a savior. But I don’t have a better feeling about the QB position than I have in a long time.

Agreed

Until we actually see successful qb play there is no reason to think anything is safe to say.

Why? Neither is a finished product from a physical standpoint. Narcisse needs to rehab the knees and work on mechanics (which have improved a lot since HS) and Brennan needs muscle. Neither have any glaring limitations, both are fairly strong armed and have the height and mobility. Brennan struggled with decision making which should come with working within a single system for longer than 9 months. Narcisse just needs reps and instruction. I don't think it's much of a reach to say they'll be different players in two years.

One of the two will likely transfer from here within the next year. I'm just skeptical on this theory that they will develop into the right QB for whatever system CEO & OCSE want for this team.
