If they stay into this season they have no real incentive to transfer, and they probably would have done so after the spring. Why would one transfer to go sit out a year when they could be immediately eligible in the same timeframe? Not saying it won’t happen, but the timing works out well for them to take a crack at the job post Burrow and then still have their options open.

agree - winning the first game and seeing what we got against a very good Auburn D on the road

3-0 baby - can't wait

I'm gonna wait 'til I actually see them produce results on the field before feeling good about our QB situation.

This. Here year after year that we have a competent OC, a new offense, a quality QB, and we stink.

If you are counting McMillian I say no. As he is most likely gone.

I feel like O and Ensminger went out and got what they wanted a pro style qb that gives them pocket presence with an arm. Burrow has been on the big stage against Nebraska and the OSU spring game he handled the pressure well. I think there is a reason to be excited for this year. We have seen Ensminger's offense uses the middle of the field and this team has big TE'S and big WR'S and finally a qb that can sling it down the field. I am very ready for this season. .

With adequate protection/time, Burrow will light this league up!

He's good. Really good.

All 3 guys have a ton to prove. I don’t feel good about anything yet.

No, not safe to say.

I've said if this works out then Orgeron may have found a workaround to developing your own QBs; just outsource it to other schools and market yourself as the team where you plug right in after being groomed somewhere else.

But another part of me says that you can't cheat the system. I think Burrow comes here and he's something less than what we saw him be in the spring game for Ohio St. That's not anything I know about Burrow, just that I think there's something lost when you take a QB from a good system and you put him in one that's still trying to figure out what they are. I have a hard time believing that he won't miss a beat in the hands of people that lack the expertise of coaches he's used to working with.

We won't have to wait long to see if it was a success or failure though.

Transfer QBs are not a new phenomenon in CFB. LSU has commits for both this class and next at QB, it’s not like Orgeron has made a concious decision to stop trying with QBs out of high school. You get talent on campus by any means and let them compete.

hell, Harris did it durig spring practice during the gauntlet drill, where I counted and he was horribly inaccurate on about 40% of his passes, and they were 10 yard passes with no defense and no pass rush.

There were Rantards here who said the coaches WANTED Harris to intentionally throw inaccurately to make the receivers work. Total nonsense. All the other passers in that drill were throwing accurately.

Relying on transfers exclusively for a particular position is the idea I'm talking about.

I don't think this is a staff that will ever be adept at developing QBs. Acknowledging that might actually be a good thing.

Honestly is this the first time in almost a decade that we look set for awhile at qb?

Set? No, but moving in right direction. I dont say set because you never know who is legit or not until they hit that field in a big game.

One transfer does not make a trend, or reliance. There’s nothing to say either way if this staff will or won’t be able to develop QBs out of highschool, but they obviously intend to try. Parrish’s scholly could have gone to another DB if they felt like they would just go look for a transfer when Burrow is done.

Mett
Etling
Burrow

I count 3. What gives?

Also potential for 6 seasons out of the last eight with transfers as starters.

Oh I know. I'm just thinking it might be a good idea because I believe they're limited in their ability to develop QBs. It would show uncanny self-awareness to come to that conclusion.

But this is probably a far fetched idea because I'm sure they think they can develop QBs and they're just not getting good ones to work with.

We had a sr qb last year with the same 3 guys backing him up. And danny had more experience than burrow. Including his time at purdue and the fact he played most of the 16 season.

I honestly dont see how this is any diff. Other than we are hoping Burrow is just that much better.

Brennan will be ready when Burrow leaves

With Burrow having 2 years to play (I doubt he leaves after 1 season)...I think Brennan's opportunity has come and gone. The staff completely wasted a year of his eligibility in 2017.
I doubt he will sit around til his senior season to play.
