We look set?
Bro getting QBs to come here has never been the problem. Developing those QBs is the issue. Stop changing the narrative that we dont recruit well. We recruit well we just can't develop that one position so far.

For years the forward pass has been something of a trick play for our offense. You look around and see offenses around the country throwing the ball and making it look easy. You see QBs making routine throws look, well, routine. When our offense throws a pass you hold your breathe and it's a roller coaster of pure emotion. And that's just on a quick out route.

Until I see a QB wearing the Purple & Gold make these simple passes on a consistent basis it's impossible to say that we finally have a good QB situation. But gentlemen one day we are going to have a legitimate QB playing for LSU. It has to happen. Statistically the odds suggest that at some point the LSU offense will in fact operate with an actual QB. What would that even look like? Having an offense with a real life QB has to improve our chances of winning games.

Maybe Burrow is the guy. Or maybe he's just the next guy in a long, tragic story filled with sighs and dramatic pauses.

Both of these won't be staying........... Brennan and Narcisse

Brennan - Redshirts
Narcisse - Acts as backup and potential starter next year if JB goes pro.

ehh more like, forever. Miles had 4 of the top seasons by a qb in LSU history. 3 of his qbs started in the NFL.

Even in 11, if you combine the two players, it wasnt a bad season at all from that position. Stats wise.

No. On paper we've got some talent. None of it means anything until we see production. We've been down this road before.

Develop the talent has been an issue. Whoever solves the problem will become the most popular man in Louisiana.

The discussion is about this staff and their strategy for the position going forward. Mett and Etling don’t really have anything to do with how they will choose to handle the position now and in the future. As I already said, transfers at QB aren’t a new or rare thing. I just want the staff to get the best guys available and sort it out on the field, whether they’re transfers, hs recruits, minor league baseball players, or from mars. This staff is at least giving the indication they want to do that. The last staff seemed to get tunnel vision and put all their eggs in a single basket, for better or worse.

No. We've never really had a problem with depth or talent. It's always been development!

Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris didn't have the goods. It wasn't a question of development.
Jordan Jefferson didn't have the goods either. He never even sniffed the NFL. Lee had some skills and talents and perhaps things would have been different if he hadn't been thrust into a starters job so early. Plus he had the added pressure of needing to put points on the board to cover an absolutely shitty defense in '08.
Scheme contributed to some of their problems as did coaching but none of those guys were elite talents.

No, not safe at all. Have any of them played a game yet for LSU?

We have not had talent or depth for the last ten years. Cameron did develop Mettenberger. Jefferson could not be developed. Harris was fatally flawed. Jennings not SEC talent. Lots of recruiting reaches and busts. Anyway completely new slate

The other thing in our favor is coming up to at least parity with analysts. Alabama knew al,ost every play we were running. One this was due to an awful offensive scheme and gameplan. Two. The Bama scouting was taken to another level. They know by hand placement fingers shoulder alignment where the play is going And whether it is a run or pass. One of my sons went to Bama. The D Line told him several times that they knew every play.

This is borderline ridiculous..

Most top level programs have QB's stacked up like lumber.

To the point they start transferring out...

LSU for some reason does not...………..

It's perplexing to say the least...

Agree. He had the skill, but tanked in game situations. Couldn't get out of his own head.

Great, we hired the guy that put a whopping zero points against them.

No, not yet, not by a long shot.

We're all assuming Burrow will walk in and take over. We know zero about him, other than he was at Ohio St and didn't win that job.

We had 3 guys on roster this spring, and the job was Brennan's for the taking. He didn't take it. I'll assume due to his athleticism and recruitment that if Narcisse showed anything, he would have been picked if he showed promise. Again, nothing to warrant giving him a shot.
The one guy who looked good, McMillan, is the one guy we apparently don't want to play.
So, while there's numbers, it doesn't sound like there's depth.

Also- bringing in another guy to leapfrog the two "studs" we just recruited not long ago may not sit well with them. We haven't seen a transfer yet, but there's no guarantee we won't. If we do, we're basically right back where we started.

As for future recruits- we've seen recently that you can't count on them until they sign.

So while we can hope, I wouldn't claim anything just yet.

Miami will be a legit look before SEC play.
