Until one of our coaches learns to coach a qb we are where we were last 8 years!

Lee had some skills and talents
why are you laughing at this? Lee had an excellent senior year in 2011, up until the Bama game.

104-167
62.3%
1306 yards
7.8 ypa
14 TD
3 INT
152.0 rating (best in the SEC)

All against a very tough schedule.

If there was anyone who should have been successful, it was Harris. With all the QB camps he went to and personal training he got from George Whitfield...he just couldn’t complete a pass within 10 yards.

He had EVERYTHING checked off for a great QB besides his ability to perform under pressure in the games.

He has a rocket arm, great size, very good athlete, smart/articulate kid, and by most accounts a really good guy off the field.

He was also very good in practice. He just panicked under the lights of real games and completely goes brain dead. Its like a bad case of the yips or something.

Yep I mentioned the Wisconsin game because I was expecting him to have a good game but it was painful to watch.

I think it's fair to say things look better now than they did at the beginning of spring practice.
Hoping that translates into the type of production we want to see, on the field.

No. We've never really had a problem with depth or talent. It's always been development!

So we'll have to see if this staff can develop guys...
THIS. After so long dealing with having such crappy QB play, I have no idea why so many LSU fans can't seem to understand this.

Anthony Jennings and Brandon Harris didn't have the goods. It wasn't a question of development.
Jordan Jefferson didn't have the goods either. He never even sniffed the NFL. Lee had some skills and talents and perhaps things would have been different if he hadn't been thrust into a starters job so early. Plus he had the added pressure of needing to put points on the board to cover an absolutely shitty defense in '08.
Scheme contributed to some of their problems as did coaching but none of those guys were elite talents.

So in your view Lee is the only one who had the requisite skills? You mentioned Jefferson never sniffed the NFL. I must have missed Lee's NFL career.

I believe that each of the QBs you claim did not have the skills, especially Brandon Harris, with proper development could have been very good starting QBs. Lee included. It is no coincidence that for more than a decade high school QBs recruited by Les Miles were never developed. Yet people like you want to blame those QBs who chose LSU and placed their futures in Miles' hands. Les Miles offensive philosophy stunted the growth of the QBs.

What QB did Miles recruited and developed into an above average QB? There isn't one. The only successful QBs under Miles at LSU were initially developed elsewhere.

No, it's not safe yet.

None of these guys has played in a really meaningful game. It's fine to be optimistic, but that is strictly the extent of it.

A coach's job is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of his QB and develop and offensive scheme accordingly.

Hell, Lane Kiffin, in his first year, turned Blake Sims into a productive QB. Gus turned Nick Marshall into a productive QB.

It's not always about having a Tim Tebow or Deshawn Watson. Just take what you have, and develop an offense that uses their skills, while hiding their weaknesses.

You know, coaching.

I totally agree with you about them wasting a year of Brennan's eligibility. See my post of 10/11/17, and the replies of 34 morons. The hand writing was on the wall when , in an interview prior to being awarded the HC job, Coach O said he preferred a Pro style QB. In interview right after being named head coach, he told a reporter that he preferred a dual threat QB. Wasn't anybody paying Attention? Burrow is a stop gap measure...they are recruiting dual threat QB's. Brennan is more than likely odd man out.
