So. . . when Hilton goes out and jumps prematurely at almost every ball thrown to him - since he returned to the field 3 games ago, is it his fault that he's not timing his jumps well, or is it the coaches' fault for continuing to stubbornly throw to this receiver when he's shown you time and again in practice and in games that he has this problem??
Just one example, there are multitudinous this year and last.
Coaches decide who plays and what plays to run.

Players getting paid now, yes you can call their play crap and be legit. When coach makes bank and doesn't have the right people around him or have the right game plan to utilize their talent go after the coach. But maybe those players aren't as good as we think. If we had better DBs etc they would be playing. If we had a better QB he'd be playing.

They are all kids born with cell phones in their hands to get immediate gratification. The other options is there are a lot of people on here that came on this website to troll. They make up names because they may be living in Louisiana and Tulane fans or Bama fans or whatever the flavor of the month fans. They are certainly not LSU fans.
The only way they think that is changing the coaching. If you were depending on a 2021 and 2022 classes for this year, I’m sorry but those classes completely fell apart in 2022 after Ed was fired.

I agree with the OP, but I will say that, for me, the measure of how well the coaching staff is performing is LSU playing rheir best ball at the end of the season?
All of our championship teams play their best ball at the end, improving each week.
This current team is getting worse as we approach the end of the regular season.

I've kinda been asking this for a couple of years now. The players are getting paid. I realize that this is a full time job for the coaches and they get paid a lot more, but I think that the players do bear some responsibility and accountability for their play - especially now that most are getting paid. These aren't a bunch of poor college kids just trying to play an amateur game any more. They are paid athletes.

Players don't get enough flack. I look at high school football. Take a 10 year span where you generally have the same coaching staff, scheme, and playbook. Out of those 10 years, you just have better teams. The players have the mesh together, the players have to have a purpose, you need a leader or group of leaders, etc. The coach is there to prepare you, yes, but the players job is to execute.
If you suck at your job, you blame your boss or do you need to look in the mirror and tighten up?

2024 #5 class
2025 #1-#3 class
2026 Currently #6 class
So he IS getting the players according to the scouts and the ratings. So maybe give it till 2026 to have it all worked out. If not then they will buy him out for $20 mil less than this year but he ain't going anywhere so yes be disappointed and criticize but also understand the a great QB can change a team quickly.Kelly has the #1 player./QB DT in the country coming. That IS a reason for positivity. He won 10 games the last 2 years, SEC West champs the year after a dumpster fire and has some great classes coming in. So he has shown he can do it. Hopefully he can do it again,

Yes, absolutely. But why is it that we're always the team on the field getting tore up due to players not executing?

"hey maybe that 4-5 star recruit wasn't all that great to begin with."
How many 4-5 stars do you get to say that about before you start looking at coaching? They grade and recruit them. So either coaches suck at evaluation or coaches suck at coaching. Do you really think that last year's team was so lacking in talent that they were the worst in the 100+ year history of LSU football?
There's a general adage, 'if the coach has the players and he's losing football games...it's probably the coach'. Most coaches aren't able to get over a few talent gaps/misses. Some are. At $10M/year for 10 years, I'd expect that our guy should be categorized in the latter.

Just like with basically everything in life, 2 things can be true at the same time. The buck stops with the coaching staff and BK is at the helm of that.
Technique, play calling and roster management all falls on coaching and they did a horrific job getting them ready to play against Alabama and Florida.
That being said, you can clearly see how frustrating it is for BK who has clearly told Hilton to quit jumping numerous times.
Kelly's pregame speeches from what LSU puts out have gotten me fired up, so from what I've seen, he's trying to get his guys motivated and ready to play.
For some players, it just hasn't clicked for them and never will (see Ryan and Burns).
In the era of NIL, it is harder than ever to coach and get a player's attention now, and the players should definitely be held accountable for poor play, especially considering the outrageous sums of money some of these guys are making.

The Deliinger injury is huge as was CJ Daniels. Nuss and Daniels were cruising on intermediate routes. I think those were amplified by those 2 leaving at halftime of TAMU and the level of competition. These are equally or more talented teams in TAMU and Bama. Maybe not UF except their Oline held our dline out of the backfield for the most part. Lack of pass rush was an issue.

Reading Comprehension?
90% Nuss fault. Then Center, Left guard, Wide Receivers.
Kelly and the recruiting staff share little or no responsibility.

Imo.. heck yeah… I think a big challenge is not evaluating physical skill but mental.. CK said he had high ranked guys playing poorly because they have not achieved the metal aspect ... you can see who has it in high school sometimes.. but physical skills can mask a lot deficiency in high school ballgames when playing local team ….but in college they are all top physical players so mental is more important…
This is an individual trait and if not developed that is on the player.. hate to repeat the CK overused comment.. but players execute the plan.. the coaches train and develop the plan..

OP you’ve been on here for several years and never seen players get criticized? I just simply don’t believe that.

IMO
it's the coaches job to put the players in a position to make the play...
it's the players job to execute the play and give their best effort
so, yes. it's a mix.
