re: Is Cam Thomas the best player to come through here?

Simmons was the number one pick. Is a two time all star. Was first team defense and led the league in steals last year. He also almost averages a triple double a game.

Simmons entire LSU career was typified by that massive blowout against A&M in the SEC tourney. He drove, drew two or three defenders, got a teammate a wide open three and they missed it. One for 23 from three if I recall. Very little help from his team, absolutely no help from his coach, just all around disappointing.

Again he took a franchise that was the worst in NBA history and turned them into a contender as a rookie. How do you justify saying he’s not a winner when all he’s done is win? You guys promised LSU would win more games after he left because it was him not Jonny Jones who failed in 2015-16 then what happened? Oh yea I remember, the worst conference record in program history. Simmons held that team together and as soon as he was gone we fell off a cliff.

Don’t know who this is. Wasn’t me.
And Simmons is extremely talented and a great player. But he has to have talent around him. He can’t really take over a game and will his team to win.
Lots of good players can’t. It’s not that big of a slam on him.

No one loved watching CJ more than me and I believe CJ is probably a better offensive player. But Cam Thomas size and frame give him the ability to score in more ways than CJ. More well rounded offensively. My prediction, only time will tell. But this guy is special.

If you graduated in 88 you are way too biased to be in this discussion. Time to put the Denver Nuggets CJ poster away.

So 36points 14rebounds and 4 assists isn’t taking over a game?
43points, 16rebounds, 7assists and 5steals isn’t taking over a game?
21points, 20rebounds and 7assists isn’t taking over a game?
I’m sorry I don’t understand what’s your standard? Cam Thomas never did this or even came close in terms of all around domination but he takes over games right? I also don’t know why all of the sudden you shifted from “winner” to taking over games?

He is special but there’s zero data to support your claim about CJ not being able to do things he already did.

Why would I be too biased? Did I become less of an LSU fan over the years?? Seems odd, since I think Joe Burrow had the greatest season any LSU athlete ever has, and correct me if I'm wrong, but he graduated from LSU last year, right. A really, really dumb take.

What a dumb thread. The guy is awesome but LSU has had HISTORICALLY great players across all of college basketball.
but the fact is that LSU is a serious contender for best alltime team.
CJ and Pete in the backcourt, Macklin and Petit at forward, Shaq at center... best 5-man group in the SEC (including Kentucky), and not backing down to anything UCLA, Duke, UNC, Indiana, Georgetown etc could put up.

Uh no, Charlie Thompson ftw

quote:Wtf are you talking about dude? The internet has made it much more easy for people to become famous, especially since social media has blown up.
its just the amount of information since the early 90s is so far beyond then nobody will ever be as famous as people of the past.
I mean, you have people that are famous just for opening up boxes of stuff or even tasting fast food and making a video of that. Hell, some people have made damn good money for making videos on those people that make videos of stupid shite.
You're way off the mark on this one.

No. He has quite a few in front of him right now:
Bob Petit
Pete
Dwayne Scales
Rudy Macklin
John Williams
CJ
Shaq
Probably others. He may pass some of them, but he almost certainly will not pass most of them.

Do you not know who Chris Jackson is?
Posted on 12/29/20 at 9:42 pm to jimbeam
He’s not a better overall player than Ben Simmons lol
Posted on 12/29/20 at 9:45 pm to Srobi14
He reminds me of Marcus Thornton. Even the same weight and height
This team desperately needed someone who can just fill it up.

You may want to consider Simmons teammates and coach.
Coach: This team to a man is unselfish. To his point, teammates who were interviewed tonight were complimenting him.
Simmons teammates were jealous to the point of harming the team.
