If you don’t think he’s right (unless LSU got membership to the Big 10) you’re delusional.

What Texas school that isn’t in the sec drives views and clicks like us?

Texas tech is a west Texas back water and they pushed this as far as us. TCU is a small Christian school and brings no new views. SMU- same small religious school just with more money but nationally they don’t move the needle.

Baylor- not even close to replacing us

Houston- not really a new market and zero national appeal

Also Texas and Aggy probably wouldn’t want any of them in the conference. Especially after the way those same schools held them hostage for a long time.

There is no reasonable equal to what LSU brings. The sec deal would be scrapped and have to be redone putting it further back.

these people think the ACC, Big12, or independent routes can fund non-football sports at their current levels

Big12 and or Acc would end up getting a much better deal by adding us.

I’m pretty sure they don’t have equal sharing so we would end up being the biggest share.

You're looking at this like it's 2011, not 2026.

Regional cable impact is an outdated lens. We just took UT and OU, which made no sense in that 2011 analysis.

Aggy threatened legal action if we added UT and they were added.

No

Also, you are missing how the SEC brand and money can change a program. Just look at the Aggies, or Missouri.

a. You over-value LSU

b. One team won't make a lot of difference. The Big12 had UT and OU and was poor. They got a larger share of the money and couldn't compete. Why do you think LSU would do better?

Texas and OU came to the SEC for a reason.

Yeah, they came because they destroyed the Big 12 so their TV contracts weren’t worth anything any more.

They are trying to throw their weight around Birmingham now and eventually it will destroy the SEC too when Bama and UGA and Florida revolt and the conference will fall apart quicker than it was already going to anyway.

I don’t see any reason to wait around taking abuse in the meantime. Netflix would make it worth our while to get a foot into the CFB market with one of the premier and most talked about schools in the country.

Riveting argument.

The current levels would go up substantially with LSU, obviously

None of those schools have any national brand.

The point of FSU and Miami is they do bring the national attention.

Florida likely has a bigger voice than Aggy, being they are an original.

Also Aggy being upset at Texas is different. Texas is a major brand. Tech, Baylor, tcu, SMU, Houston aren’t

Current payouts per year

Sec 72m
Big ten 76m
Acc 42m
Big 12 31m

Not great if we get booted

If you’re too stupid to figure out what I was inferring that’s ok. I’ll break it down for you…

The ACC and Big XII don’t pay well enough to sustain the current level of our football program and the other sports.

Well ....

An antitrust settlement might provide an input to that equation.

Your thesis requires LSU to do just this.

The complicating factor are existing TV contracts. The ACC is locked into a bad deal for 4-5 more yrs IIRC.

They could always re-negotiate. It has happened before with the conference shuffling.

The problem isn't that as much as history. We know ruling the Big12 or ACC would still result in us being far behind SEC schools, financially.

LSU would probably go Independent if not Big 10

SEC not booting LSU anyway

I guess the more likely outcome is an immediate reshuffling of ESPN money, assuming LSU went to the ACC. ESPN owns the contract with both conferences.

The bottom line in an immediate sense would likely be a $15-$20 million per your loss for LSU. Of course, if somehow LSU joined the Big Ten, the revenue story would be very different.

You and I both know that the Big Ten inviting LSU it's the longest of long shots.
