re: I'm completely serious. Do you consider a forfeit if you run out of pitching?

top 8 only

Agreed. This "let everyone in", or nearly everyone in, doesn't work in baseball. Frankly, tournaments, as opposed to individual series, are a bad idea, in general, in baseball. it's too clustered, and the unpredictability of an un-timed sport, with outdoor weather concerns as well, makes it too much of a cluster, also. But if we're going to have tournaments, 8 should be the max.

I'm beyond stunned that we haven't had a weather delay yet.

It's somewhat disrespectful to the game, your pitchers, and the other team to create a comedy of it. If a position player needs to come in for a few outs or even innings, fine. But, you can't just make into a big joke.

No...the damned "comedy" is a 12 team baseball tournament crammed into 6 days that is single elimination for a day, then double elimination for a couple days, then single elimination again for a couple days...and tries to play 4 games on the same field in 1 day, making some teams start and finish at all hours of the night.

The tournament can be fun, but ask PM if he is having fun finding pitchers to eat innings in this travesty.

LSU ran out of pitchers and put in Wally Pontiff (if I remember correctly). Those 65 mph fastballs looked funny.

You don’t. It was the late Johnny Thibodeaux

We’re not even close to running out of pitchers. We have like five guys who haven’t pitched in weeks but are not injured. Pitch them. We’ll give up shite-tons of runs, but at least it will be funny. Plus, you never know, one of these back-benchers might get in a groove and slay the peckerheads.

Do you think Hal Hughes can hit 70mph on a fastball?

I'm absolutely on board with pitching a bunch of position players on Saturday if we win tomorrow.

Friday is the tough day. We could piece together a good staff on Saturday, because Fontenot would be available for three or four innings, Hess would be available for at least two, and Peterson would be available for one. At the very least you’d have six innings of frontline pitching. And George could pitch. On Friday you have zero innings of frontline pitching and zero innings of second line pitching.

Honestly I don’t want any of the guys who threw more than 30 pitches in this tournament throwing on Saturday. If we win tomorrow cool but we need to be rested for the Regional

Nobody catches a knuckleball. You just kinda hope you're still in front of it when it gets to the plate and sometimes you get lucky and it hits your mitt.

ETA: Don't believe me? These are PROS.

You never forfeit a game. Ever.

You throw position players and let the team have fun with it but you never under any circumstances just forfeit

I don't think we really would "run out". We might just have to throw guys who will likely get rocked. Moffitt, Ripoll, Costello, Threadgill, and Gunter haven't even pitched. George can still pitch a lot. Henry can probably come back and pitch a little. Fontenot could probably give a short stint. Peterson is probably still available for a short stint.

If you get to Saturday, Walker, Beck, Hess, and Hilliard might could give an inning again...
